what does the spleen look like, and how does it taste?

I do not know how a spleen tastes. Is it an organ that's safe to eat? Somehow I have the notion that the spleen is where unpleasant things are stored, but maybe I'm anthropomorphizing.

I've eaten several spleens over the past month. And seem to be fine thus far. They taste sort of like liver only nicer - but still rather gibletty.

I don't know why I hadn't ever noticed them before this year.
