...

Attempting to skid to a halt, the red aston martin went careening out of control, soon crashing into a pile of snow.

“SLAG” the mech moaned, glancing at his finish desperately before looking back up at the relic in the middle of the frozen lake.

Other cons hovered around the edge now, some laughing at his misfortune, most unwilling to attempt to recreate his accident. It was at that moment that a bunch of Autobots also joined the scene, some beginning to fight the cons, while others ran for the relic.

The moment their pedes met the ice was disastrous.

Bumblebee was first to fall victim, falling straight on his aft as he stumbled to regain control of his stabilising servos.

“What’s wrong Bee?” Smokescreen stepped forward playfully, but was soon face planted into the cold hard surface, making the scout laugh in his little beeps.

Watching with wide optics, Knock Out carefully stepped onto the ice, only to slip over again, skidding across the lake on his chest and squealing at the thought of paint damage.

“FOOLS! ATTACK THEM!” Starscream yelled as he landed, overlooking the scene with curious optics. All his troops seemed to be failing as miserably as the Autobots. He glanced to the larger mechs fighting, Breakdown and Bulkhead, who appeared fine on the surface compared to the others.

It was then that one of their own caught his attention...Soundwave. Using his lither pedes, the silent mech skated past Starscream, quickly pursued by Arcee, who appeared to be copying his technique.

“I’ll get the slagging relic myself!” the seeker declared, stumbling forward and narrowly avoiding tumbling over.

A large thud appeared behind him, and shakily he turned to overlook the looming figure of his lord.

Megatron merely huffed and watched everyone struggle. With a dark glare at Starscream, he stepped forward, kicking his spiked pedes into the surface to keep balance as he moved. With a small yelp, Starscream also followed, digging his heels in for support as he moved.

“I’m a mess...my finish is ruined...” Knock Out lamented as he bumped into something, soon gasping as he noticed it was the relic pod they’d all been after. Grabbing it, he looked up to see his lord and commander approaching slowly.

“Megatron!” Optimus called out to his old friend, attempting to warn the warlord, but merely was shot at in response.

As the tyrant took a heavy step, there was a sickening crack that echoed around everyone, making all those fighting freeze in fear.

Glancing down, the warlord gritted his denta as he saw a pattern of cracks spreading from his pede.

“Don’t move” he growled to Starscream, but the seeker took no heed, moving again and causing another cascade of cracks.

Screeching in fear, the second in command jumped and transformed, flying away as quickly as he could.

“STARSCREAM! YOU COWARD!” Megatron roared as the ice finally gave way and he fell into the lake.

Breakdown and Bulkhead slammed into one another, uncaring of the now delicate ice below them, and were next to fall into the lake.

Knock Out hugged the pod and stared in fear, watching the cracks slowly spread around him. Vehicons and Autobots were plummeting into the cold waters, probably continuing their fight below the surface...but the red mech shuddered in fear.

He did not want to ruin his finish in that murky water...Primus knew what was in that stuff!

Remaining completely still, he wanted to cry as he saw the cracks stop in a intricate pattern around him, making escaping the unwanted swim practically impossible.

Maybe if he remained here, remained calm and still, he could at least await the victors to go for him.

Unfortunately, Starscream flew down in an try and regain favor by grabbing the relic, causing the already brittle ice to give under his thrust, making the red mech splash down into the ice water with the others and the relic.

His system screamed as the coldness overtook, warnings flashing up about how long he had and about the water attempting to flood his vents.

A figure immediately attacked him, one who showed up pretty well in the water. The yellow scout tried desperately to pry the pod from his servos, but it was hard for both of them, the water restricting their movement and adding more resistance.

It was more a battle of time.

Who would give in to their screaming system first?

At that moment, a bigger problem overcame the red mech. He glanced down at his chest plates and wanted to scream.

Scratches littered it.

Optics flaring, he managed to regain the pod and kick Bumblebee away, attempting to swim back up to the surface.

The scout wasn’t finished though, as his black servo grabbed at Knock Out’s pede.

Dragging the con back down, the yellow scout once more tried to grab the pod, but found the red mech not relenting.

Knock Out grumbled to himself, checking his internal HUD and cursing to himself. They all had maybe a few more minutes before their systems would begin suffering consequences of this swim.

A larger servo grabbed him suddenly, making him vent what he’d been holding, a load of bubbles flying out of his vents. The blunt digits were familiar, making him relax slightly.

Hitting the scout away quickly, Breakdown merely smirked at Knock Out.

Gesturing to his partner, Knock Out smiled as the brute picked him up and flung him up, allowing him to escape the lake and purge the water from his vents.

Landing in the snow again, he quickly called Soundwave for a ground bridge, feeling the water on his chassis begin to freeze over.

The silent mech, having escaped the watery plummet, responded quickly and did so, making Knock Out grin as he rushed through.

Dropping the pod to the floor and shuddering as he tried to warm his system once aboard the Nemesis, he sighed in aggravation.

Not because he’d lost the pod...no, he had obtained it.

But because he was a mess. It would take him megacycles to clean up and fix himself.

Ice.

He would have to remember to avoid the slagging stuff in the future.
