[Thrall is carrying a large wooden totem on his back. Depending on when and where you run into him, this may involve him hiking through the forest with it or just carrying it through the village.

Why is he doing this, you ask? ... Shaman stuff. You're free to ask for a better explanation, of course...]

Luceti has a number of spirits which grant those who make pacts with them magical abilities. Wind, Fire, Water, Earth, Healing, Thunder, and Light are the elements associated with them.

That would explain it.

A few months ago, Luceti's barrier was breached by outside forces. At first there were just a pair of them, warriors with huge wings and immense power. They were destroyed, but then a larger force broke through the barrier. Three hundred strong, they attacked us.

Their motives are unclear.

As for how they broke in, the word "shift" is often mentioned, but what exactly that means is still not fully understood.
