I will be the first to say that I thought that T3 wasn't all that great, but still watchable, and that the Sarah Conner Chronicles was very entertaining, physics aside (gimme a break; Cameron was strong, but she still lacked the leverage necessary to throw he much larger opponents around like she did) and I'm pleased as hell that it's gotten a green light for season two.
Terminator 4, on the other hand, is looking more and more like a disaster movie than a science fiction film. Casting Christian Bale as the lead was the first, and so far only good move so far. I haven't read anything about the script, but I like to think that if it's gotten this far, it can't be that bad.
My two main problems with this film is twofold;
McG - This is a director who has yet to impress me. I see a ton of television credits as executive producer, but so far, his directorial endeavors have yet to show me he has the nards for a film like this . I half expect to see a cameo of 'Charlie's Angels' somewhere in the movie.
PG-13 - This is the deathknell of the franchise. Even though T3 was not the ground breaker I had hoped, it still managed to stand on its own by being big, brutal and violent. Halcyon's decision to make the film PG-13 in order to 'broaden the target audience' is just so much feldercarb. I suppose they wanna sell Terminator 4 happy meals or something. What evidence do I bring to the table? Look at Die Hard 4. Not bad, but I think that before I allow myself to add this Die Hard movie to the collection, I'm locating the unrated version.
In short, this comic summs it all up. Carry on Folks:
