FF #8

So, Doom has a brief appearance in FF #8 this month as well.

There isn't much more than the pages glimpsed in the preview. Which I'm not that fond of, to tell the truth: Doom seems a bit overly volatile and violent - he's usually portrayed as more controlled than that these days, especially with someone who he considers a non-threat and who hasn't particularly insulted him. Plus the whole thing is really a bit Silver Age cheesy. But possibly it's part of some greater plan. We'll see.

The rest of the issue is plot-light (though fun!) but towards the end, we see Alex Power return home to the Baxter building, looking pretty beaten up. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the building the future version of Johnny Storm who wakes up from his coma, bursting into flames and destroying the H.E.R.B.I.E.s watching over him, with a big dramatic cry of "Doooooom!"

Finally, back in Latveria:

So, still really more of a teaser than the actual start of this plot. I'm a bit leery of where it's going, given all the moustache-twirling cheese on display and the overturning of what I thought might be an interesting examination of the ethics of going after Doom in the Alex plot, but this is a fun book otherwise, so I'm cautiously reserving judgement.

Also, Allred's version of Doom is really growing on me, so there is that.
