Yet another successful day of bandee camp--I mean "workshop"! I owned snare again today and I'm starting to get bruises from gripping the sticks so hard. This workshop is like a smackdown on my fingers. I had to tune by ear again today *groan* it's rather frustrating when I'm trying to use a tuner, but there's a bunch of saxes and trombones registering on the tuner so I can't tell whether it's my instrument that is flat or theirs! stupid treble clef....*pout*
Good news on the injury front! All the grossness from the blisters is gone and now my fingers don't hurt! YAY!! =D
Flora's been a good girl all week long, but I wish I could bring her home. Everybody else can bring their instruments home and work on pieces, but I can't. And it's not that I don't enjoy playing on Azrael all afternoon, i do, but I don't get much of a chance to practice posturing and maybe some of the longer songs that have eighth notes and bowing parts and stuff. I don't really get a chance to bow at school because the bow is long and the band room is cramped for the moment since the instruments were never put back into place after the last concert. I accidentally hit a girl today when I was trying to bow some Hills and Valleys song....it had a lot of whole notes and half notes.
anyways, the little sister has switched from french horn to trumpet and plans to eventually switch to trombone. I think those are some decent choices and I hope she sticks to one of those and doesn't go for percussion because she doesn't yet understand what a tempo is and she certainly can't keep one. I always have to count her off when we practice at home. *sigh* I hope she gets better at this.
