nVidia's new graphics card, the GeForce 8800GTX is quite a beast. Not only does it out-perform AMD/ATI's latest card by serious amounts it also draws 321W under load! I am hoping this is for the entire system, not just the graphics card. These are actually quite similar power figures to the ATI. This is just ugly - here at ARM we measure power consumption in mW. I know we don't do anything like these babies do, but surely some power saving techniques could help! At this point in VLSI design power is a huge consideration. AMD know it, Intel have caught up to the fact, but what about graphics cards? I guess they must be doing something to keep it down because putting out less power enables you to clock your card higher, but still, this is sick.

Of course I would like one in my system.
