Warning: brain on finals
I have officially decided that it's my new head canon that Sheriff Stilinski's first name is either Pat or Wyatt.
Because I was reading this fic procrastinating when I should be studying, and I realized everyone just calls him "Sheriff" (well, except Stiles). All the time. Even in the show. And I thought to myself, what if his name really was Sheriff, giggling madly. And then I sat up straight in my chair, and thought to myself,Oh my God, what if his name *really was* Sheriff?! It even makes sense: you know how, if your name is Dennis, you're more likely to grow up to be a dentist, and so on?
But obviously, upon consideration, it cannot be thus. There are some truly odd first names out there, but 1) people with odd first names tend to give their children relatively normal names, and 2) even in the farthest reaches of Hollywood, I have never heard of anyone naming their child after law enforcement.
BUT, my dear Lj friends, but, what if it was a nickname? Like, his name was something else, but everybody called him Sheriff? Even when he was little?
Well, there are really two relatively simple ways to go about this: either he wanted to be a sheriff when he grew up, or there was something about his name himself that led to that nickname. So, what if he shared a name with a famous sheriff?
And, honestly, what sheriff (besides Andy Griffith) is more famous than Pat Garrett? Wyatt Earp, on the other hand, is probably the most famous Western lawman of all time, even if he was never technically a sheriff.
