So the day has arrived I guess. Tomorrow David starts the main event at noon, or 11 central. We just had a long talk about strategy, I think he should be ok. Its a freeroll, so regardless of outcome there isn't a loss for him. I will try to give updates when I can. I think we are gonna walk over there with him tomorrow, see if I recognize anyone on his table, maybe see a few hands, and then I think we are gonna leave him alone because Chad wants to rent a car and drive around the island. Dave also said he feels extra pressure when people are watching him. I am gonna try to talk Chad into coming back around the dinner break, so we can check on Dave and maybe talk with him about the tournament and then I can post an update on how many hundred thousand of chips he has. Tomorrow should be a day to set up for the rest of the tourney. Just gotta make it day by day. Today we played a few satellites here for nothing and then walked down the beach to another casino that was having a super satellite tonight for UB seats. We played 2 satellites for the super satellite, and I got down to heads up against this Croatian guy from Chicago. He had a huge chip advantage over me, and I was totally outplaying him. He was very passive tight and I worked my way up to almost even. He had me outchipped by about 400 chips (there were 10,000 in play) and I got A3 offsuit on the button. The blinds were 400/800 and I just called, and he raised it up 1500 more, I thought a while, and went ahead and put it all in for I guess about 2000 more and he thought a while and called with 55, and I blanked out and he took the seat. Dave and I discussed the hand at length, and he felt like I should have pushed to begin with and he was tight enough that he would have laid down the 55, but I felt like he would have called regardless, and I was pretty much set on the A3. It was heads up, and I wanted to get my chips in there and end it one way or the other. Oh well, it was close as I will come to money prolly. There is a $2000 freeroll at that sketchy casino that we might go try out since we will have to pay nothing to get in and its a $2000 prize pool. Anyway, talk to yall when the main event is running. Hope things are well in Tuscaloosa and we love you.
