So this is a little weird. But last night I went to bed around 12:30 and my upstairs neighbors were really loud. I fell asleep and had some really disturbing dreams. And so then I was wide awake at like 2:00 in the morning. Which was kind of okay b/c I went to the late service today. But then I just felt like oppression from evil. So I came to sleep in my living room but I wasn't tired. I just felt really unsettled. But then I finally went to sleep.
Church today was great. Todd continued talking about the Most misunderstood verse, Matthew 7:1. And basically talked about speaking truth in love and how not judging doesn't mean that we don't take a stand on moral issues. And that the standard is to be holy. Then I met up with my friend Amy and we went to lunch in the park. It was great spending time with her and getting to know her more. Then I went to Target. I came home with the intention of doing school work but then I thought to myself, why do I think that I have to spend every spare moment doing school work? So I watched some Smallville and took a little nap. It's been a relaxing day. I worked out and worked on Bible study. It's the Discipline of Contentment. I'm going to use some Neil McClendon stuff. It's been a great reminder to myself about what it means to be content in the Lord. To focus on Jesus and not my circumstances.
We sang a song today, a hymn, called Praise to the Lord the Almighty. It's beautiful. I bought it off of iTunes-from the Passion-Hymns Ancient and Modern and if I'm not mistaken Christy Nockles is singing it. =) It was written back in the 1600's. And that reminded me of something Dr. Horrell said in class once and that Dr. Bingham said during WEC-basically that we are wrong to think that we know the best way to live to the Lord today-that we don't need to look at what the saints in the past have written and what they knew about the Lord. So here are the lyrics.
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty
" Praise to the Lord,
The Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him,
For He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear,
Now to His temple draw near;
Praise Him in glad adoration.
Praise to the Lord,
Who over all things so wondrously reigneth,
Shelters thee under His wings,
Yea, so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen
How all your longings have been
Granted in what He ordaineth?
Praise to the Lord,
Who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;
Surely His goodness
And mercy here daily attend thee.
Ponder anew
What the Almighty can do,
If with His love He befriend thee.
Praise to the Lord,
O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath,
Come now with praises before Him.
Let the Amen
Sound from His people again,
Gladly for aye we adore Him"
There are a few more things I want to write about but it'll have to wait until tomorrow. I need sleep. =)
Peace out
