Two more weeks and then it's finals!! Yay!! I still have a ton of work to do for my Trinitarianism project. I need to block off some time soon and get to work on an outline. Or get started on the slide show I'm going to do. I need to get more input from people though.
So this past week worship has been the topic I've been hearing about. Monday night at Bible study I lead on the discipline of worship and let me tell you I felt so inadequate to teach about that. I felt like I needed to go read Matt Redman's The Unquenchable Worshipper (which I did try to find at the stores yesterday but couldn't). And then Thursday night at the fellowship thing at Kara's the topic was worship. We talked about alot of different stuff. There wasn't really anything new that I heard b/c worship is kind of a broad topic but it has piqued my interest to make me want to read something about it. So if any of you have some suggestions, I'd love them. =) Speaking of Thursday nights, it was so great. Like the community and unity that is there is incredible. It's nights/times like that I am so glad I'm here in Texas and so thankful for the people God has put in my life. After it was over, I was just so grateful for all the people the Lord has put in my life, whether they are in Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Brazil, Canada, wherever they are. And just so thankful that God doesn't call us to live in isolation.
Yesterday Becca and I went to Half-price books, which is like one of my favourite places in Dallas and I got Lifehouse "No Name Face" for $3 and 3 Doors Down "The Better Life" for $3 and Jesus Freaks (book) by dc Talk for $1. That's some good stuff!! They actually had a lot of CS Lewis stuff but I didn't buy any of it. I was looking for Captivating by the John and Stasi Eldridge, b/c I"ve heard alot about it and have had it recommended to me several times. But they didn't have it. I realized that I like to collect books. Like I haven't even read half of the books that I own, I want to and I just like to have them. I've always wanted a house with a library.
Last night we had season 2 Smallville marathon at my friend Cara's apt. It was so much fun!! 6 episodes of Smallville in one night. Does life get much better than that? =) I had a thought while I was watching it. I really hope this makes sense. =) So in Trinitarianism we've talked about how some people believe that Jesus was just a man with God-like abilities/power. And in the beginning of season 2 of Smallville there are a couple of references that not just anyone could have Clark's abilities, like it's not easy being him and that it's good that he has the abilities and not just anyone. However, Clark does not always use his abilities wisely. And so that got me thinking about that movie with Jim Carey when he had God's powers. And then I thought about Jesus and this carries over a bit from my last post and He never misued His power, He never deceived, He was alway wise in exerting His deity-whether speaking about it (like saying He was sent by the Father) or healing someone or waiting to heal someone (Lazarus). And He never used His deity as a trump card, even when He could've. But He was a perfect man with humility, compassion, kindness. So to me, that's why our Saviour had to be God, that's why Jesus wasn't just a man with some special abilities. B/c just a man couldn't handle it. But Jesus who is our example, who lived on earth as completly man and completely God could and did. I really hope that all makes sense. =)
I really need some self-control with iTunes this month. I normally try to keep it around 5 songs or so a month, but I've definitely gone above and beyond that this month. And I've never bought a whole album before but I really want to!!! I am so loving Watermark that I want to buy one of their cd's but I already have so many of their songs that I don't want doubles of too many of them.
I hope everyone has a great Saturday!!!
