Ooh, Jorah would be interesting! He is in a way acting as the Eduardo character to Daenerys - falling for her, unwisely, trailing after her and wanting to act as her caretaker and protector, while she, deliberately or ignorantly, overlooks him to focus on her quest. And while I don't think Mark was actually as naive as Dany back then (just very young and scared and angry) Eduardo probably used to think of him that way ('Mark needs to be protected').

Theon - mh, I have to say, he never quite managed to grab my attention, and then that homecoming of his kind of soured the character for me (sister or not, ugh, that is no way to behave and also struck me as rather Draco Malfoy-ish in a 'I can take everything I want because of who my daddy is' kind of way), but I do see your point. Theon definitely has a troubled relationship with his father, feelings of inadequacy, and conflicting loyalties.

(You don't mean to say that you think Sam has an unrequited crush on his pale-skinned, curly-haired friend, do you?)

Three guesses isn't much when you have as many characters as in ASOIAF. And Mark hates to fail. He'll go through the book repeatedly, over-analysing, obsessing, making lists... Hee, it is now my headcanon that he eventually decides to use the same trick he did for his final, open a sock puppet account and try to get other people's input. Though of course that only works for general character discussions, not when it comes to taking into account Eduardo's preferences, his likes, dislikes, and issues (be he aware of them or in denial). And there's the problem that it is very likely Eduardo has changed since their time together, in part possibly because of how that ended, and new!Eduardo is one big unknown. It won't take Mark long to read the book, but I assume it'll take him some time to settle on three characters,
