The girl nodded and immediately went down by Edward’s side, slashing the many ropes and ridding Edward of his painful posture. He straightened gratefully, nodded and smiled at Ran-Fan, and rubbed his sore wrists before looking up at Ling.

“Long time no see, pipsqueak,” Ling greeted. Edward twitched, but Ling quickly made up for himself. “You’re bigger.”

“Yeah, and you look… fancier.” Edward was obviously referring to his headdress. Ling frowned, but Edward made up for himself, too. “So, I heard you're a decent tyrant.”

Ling grinned. “You have good sources.”

Hand on his hips and a pseudo sour look in place, Edward asked, in a mocking tone, “So, how does this work? Do I get on my knees and do as I’m told like a good concubine, or do I have to bear dozens of children for you?”

“Well, considering part of the new job regimen is bearing children for me, then yes.”
