Uggh I have another placement test today, which is why I woke up at this ungodly hour of 7:45.
Actually it's nice to be up early in the morning: you have the whole common room to yourself, and the yard is nice to look out upon -whereas at 12:30 at night it is certainly not as picturesque.

I have to say I'm loving it here. It's an absolutely wonderful place. The college is definitely doing it's best to reach out to students -my peer advising fellow is like a peer counselor basically, and she is very cool. She advises a bunch of us with similar academic interests (so like neurobiology) and she tells us all this useful stuff.

We have this really interesting thing called "Conversations with Faculty" where everyone had to read this paper (usualy on moral issues) and then we discuss it in a group with a ....guess who, faculty member. Our professor yesterday was from the Department of Slavic Languages and we talked about "perfection" in terms of genetic engineering/social impact/eugenics. After that our academic advising group went out to lunch with our proctor, who is also our advisor. He's so nice :) and we went to a Chinese Restaurant near the Law School (heh.) I think I'd prefer the fact that entryway mates are making California Rolls on Saturday and I'm providing the rice cooker for the downstairs kitchen, but the food wasn't too bad.

There are a billion, gazillion socials here. And they are all related to "ice Cream." Held at 10 pm at night. I am not surprised about Freshman 15!

However yesterday there was a nice video by CHI and then an "afterparty" at the MAC (athletic center) and I got lots of free stuff for my brother, who is into these things. I wish I could give them to him right now. :( I miss having him around.

But I guess it's worse for family because I was there but now I'm not anymore, whereas this is an entirely new environment that is still constantly challenging me.

I took the chemistry placement test yesterday. Not too cool as I realize I'd forgotton how to convert pKas to Ka and I could not get the equations for the energy of a photon to work out right. And 2 of the questions I'd never seen before in IB - one was on freezing points of water with certain amounts of salt ?! Then the French one in the afteroon was quite ok, actually. I wasn't used to the fact that one section of the test was basically telling you to convert English words to French ones, but that was for the French I level. I was surprised by how much I knew. Must email Mme H-D about this.

Mum does not want me to do ballroom as a) high heels + my ankle and b) xxxxx (this I will tell on request vs. FM)
but I don't have to wear high heels! Our whole entryway is going to the Ballroom dancing camp on Saturday which looks to be fun.

Timo is coming to get me for breakfast in a coupla minutes. (more like 5) so off I am!
