I think I have a job, actually. I haven't actually been given the official word, yet, but I seem to be continuing my employment with my current employer, not moving anywhere, keeping my lovely benefits, losing some hours (maybe), but getting two raises, one real and one effectual. I'll be earning more per hour, in addition to not driving almost 100 miles a day in my own car to get to work and back. My drive time and distance will be 1/3rd what it is currently, therefore greatly lowering my gas expenses (which will only ever net increase until a knight in shining armor slays the ancient fiend, OPEC) and reducing the frequency of oil changes and other such regular maintenance by a similar amount. I'll actually be able to get the oil changed once every three months rather than once every month. Neat-o. Also, as I'll be moving to a quasi-second shift position, I'll have my whole day free to do whatever I want. Imagine being able to go to the doctor or dentist or the bank without having to miss work or wait for the weekend! As an added bonus, I'll be, sort of, the IT guy! I'll be tasked with doing hardware and software maintenance, apparently, with my first gig being learning the company's database querying software. I've always wanted to play with databases, but was honestly a bit intimidated by the concept but now I have an excuse to delve into it! And I don't have to move! Don't get me wrong, while the idea of paying three times as much for absolutely everything is tempting, and I would very much like to be able to spend a lot more time among my beloved Northlanders, I HATE MOVING! Should I have made that bold, italic, and underlined while I was at it to further stress the point that I am very, very much a creature of habit and almost always prefer the familiar, even if it is unhealthy or unpleasant for me (cigarettes, marriage, monogamy, low-fat diets)? :-D tee hee

Anyhoo... until I hear otherwise, I guess I just assume I am employed, but I am more than happy to assume that what is for me a dream job is, indeed, mine.

But thank you for the offer. I may well send you a resume to forward, should this whole gravy-run/IT-guy thing not work out. ;-)
