movie review: children of men

May 11, 2007 08:23

This is probably the best movie I have seen of 2007 and maybe even 2006. If you don't know the story, it takes place in 2027 and the world has been thrown into chaos because people can't reproduce and the youngest person in the world has just died at 18. It is a future that seems attainable, it seems real, it seems like it could happen. There are no distracting super innovative gadgets or hover cars to make it seem like the future we'll never live in. The acting is superb, this movie has a very documentary feel to it, which is also achieved by long takes. The movie is depressing and violent, but it is also incredibly moving and touching.
