I only have to wait one more month! Yesssssssss! Crazy thing is - it hasn't even been one month yet, and it feels like it's been 6. :( Oh well! It's so close. First night there I'M taking DJ to PF Changs and then we're staying to party in Orlando. After that, it's the beach and surfing everyday. :):) That is if I can surf, which I can't. So I'll mostly watch after I try to learn, I'm sure.
Being home is pretty nice. Having no school is real nice. Having my own room is super nice.
My class at Macomb starts next Monday though. That sucks pretty bad, monday-friday 8-12. POLITICAL SCIENCE. fuck that. But it's only 3 weeks. I'm watching Mary's dog for a week and they're paying me $100! I haven't had that much money in a long long time. I get 8 hours a week at the pool. But, I applied for a new job that starts at $10.22/hr. so I'm just hoping so bad that they hire me. I'll work those 4 hours tues/thurs at the pool, and work the rest of the time there. Let me get some money! I'm taking like $40-$50 from every paycheck and putting it away so I can go to Florida for new years time. Unless someone wants to go with me and drive? We'll have a free place to stay and I'll hook you up with deej's friend.
I bought my own membership to the gym so I don't have to sneak in with John and Ann. I love it. I've been going everyday for like an hour and a half. Yesterday I had so much energy, it was the best thing ever. Today I'm tired as hell though and I have to wait till around 11 to go. Maybe somehow I'll wake up.
Pull out antennas are amazing. I got my new phone and can talk in my room for hours-no problem. It's the best. I bent it a little bit last night, but it's still ok. I hope.:( I want to go back to Seidman 114 next year with this bitch and test it out. I'm sure it'll work so perfect. dammit.
Still no 311 tourdates. Sucks. Whatever, I have no money anyways...but I'd like to know because they HAVE TO BE IN CLEVELAND BEFORE I GO AWAY TO SCHOOL! This is a must, but I almost doubt it because they're (supposedly) not even starting until late July. That is if they ever post the fucking dates and start at all. I don't even care about the new album-I just want a tour. What ever happened to their being anniversary shows? wouldn't that be in June? Yes.
311, you're gay. But I love you.
Have you ever heard of a 19 year old having breast cancer? Me neither. Lets hope I'm not the first one to change that. But honestly, could I even be surprised? Nope. and I'm not. I guess we'll just have to wait a few more days to find out. fuck. Leave it to me!!!! I'm really not ready to go through all that a-fucking-gain. Actually, I would be-I just don't want hair loss. I already have the hair of a 5 year old, I don't want to lose it and then get infant hair again.
Volunteering at Children's this summer is going to be so fun:) At orientation I discovered the name of my DREAM CAREER. yes. I didn't think it really existed. It's what I've always pictured myself doing, but I just thought I made it up or something. I love it. I'm thrilled. Though I would love to find a school with a child life program, there aren't really any in Michigan. After alot of research though, I can still do it majoring in Social Work and minoring in Psychology. You have to get certified after anyways, so it'll be good. I love my future.
Who are Child Life Specialists? Child Life Specialists are members of pediatric health care teams who focus on the emotional, social, and developmental needs of hospitalized children and adolescents. Hospitals may also refer to Child Life Specialists as "play therapists," "activity therapists," and/or "therapeutic recreation specialists."
What do they do? Child Life Specialists work with ill or injured children and adolescents to ease the anxiety and stress that comes with hospitalization. Children and adolescents often have fear and nightmares about their illness or injury. Child Life Specialists ease the trauma of hospitalization by providing interaction, play and relaxation. Activities such as art, cooking, recreation, and play are often used to comfort the patient.
Where do they work? The most common workplace for a Child Life Specialist is in the hospital. There may be a special playroom or a standard playroom where the patient and the Child Life Specialist can meet for activities. Child Life Specialists may also work in the child's hospital room or in school programs within the school.
What education is required? Some universities have child life programs, but a BA in education, psychology and child development also prepares you for a career as a Child Life Specialist. Typical courses focus on liberal arts, psychology, human growth and development, and psychosocial care. Internships and volunteer work in health care settings are helpful. A voluntary certification as a Certified Child Life Specialist (C.C.L.S.) is available through the Child Life Council's Child Life Certifying Committee. This process includes education, clinical training and professional experience.
Do you have what it takes? A Child Life Specialist has excellent supervisory, research, and communication skills. They understand family dynamics and are in tune with a child's or adolescent's concerns. Observing and understanding child development is important for creating educational play. Child Life Specialists must adjust to being around sick children and hospitals, and they must be emotionally stable for their patients. Basic medical terminology is often required.
