I have some exciting news to talk about today. I'm sure most of you know it by now, but I'm going to write it here, so I don't have to brag about it on AIM anymore. Plus I can give the full tale here, and not have to repeat myself 1,000 times.
Yesterday morning, my boss came into the office, handed me a large roll of blueprints and said, "In 5 minutes you're coming with me to Hoyt" (that would be WC's science building if you didn't know). As we were walking to his van he asked me if I knew why we were going to Hoyt. I assumed it had something to do with the new playground project, because we have a preschool here at WC, which is also located in Hoyt, and they are getting a new playground this summer. He states, "Good guess, but no. We're teaching preschool today about construction." My thoughts were...OMG, you're not serious. This is not in my job description. As much as I like kids, there is a reason why I'm going into Accounting and not child care.
Anyway, as we're walking into Hoyt, he says to me, "Oh, by the way, JS called from TLG and said he received your Utilities Analysis. He told me it was the best, most organized and most thorough report the group has ever received." He then went on to tell me that it sucks now because WC has not voted in favor of using the group for the strategic management project to lower consumption on campus. Therefore, we have to put it on the back burner for now, or in other words, all that work for nothing. But I just couldn't get over the praise I got to let the fact that we might not even be going through with the project let me down. Instead, I'm thinking, damn I'm good. Did I mention it only took me 8 days to complete? My boss thought it would take me at least 2 full weeks. Ok, I'm done bragging.
So, that's my fabby story from yesterday's events. Teaching preschool was pretty easy. I just had to hand my boss stuff when he wanted to explain something. The kids all blew us a kiss at the end, it was really cute. Not cute enough to change my career path though.
That's all for now. Maybe if I get bored later, I will post an Uncle Jim Forward. Toddles!
