Three Fandoms Meme

1) What got you into this fandom in the first place?
I'm not really in the fandom, per se. I read the books because I wound up picking them up at bag day at a rummage sale (where you pay $5 and can stuff a bag full of whatever will fit). I nearly gave up on the series due to not liking the 2nd book, but still owned the third so decided to give it a shot. A few people on my flist read/write DF and I've read their works. Then awanderingbard asked for a fic with Ramirez for the holiday meme '07 and I decided to try my hand at writing DF.
2) Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
I'll probably stay where I am, on the very outer edges of the fandom. I can't see myself getting either more involved or less.
3) Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
Hmmm, I'm torn. I thought the tv series was okay, but not great and no episode stands out in my mind (although I only ever watched it as it aired, never in repeats so I don't remember them that well. As for the books, the one that changed my mind about dropping the series was Summer Knight, so I suppose that would qualify as my favorite.
4) Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
Nope. Only if something appears on my flist.
5) Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?
Can't really say, since I'm not in the fandom. The books and show are both good, but you have to be into that sort of thing.
SGA
1) What got you into this fandom in the first place?
I started skimming about ff.net not too long after discovering the fanfic/fandom world and SGA and NCIS were the two fandoms I mostly read there. On LJ, at first, I was only in the TW world, but then tried to expand to SGA as well.
2) Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
I'm comfortably in the outskirts of SGA's fandom, and I'll probably stay there. I might participate in the occasional gen ficathon or something or write snippets here or there, but that's about it. I suppose it's also possible I'll leave it completely.
3) Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
38 minutes. Hands down. Although any John-centric episode, especially with a nice dose of h/c is my cup of tea.
4) Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
Vaguely. I tried to get more involved by participating in LFWS, but that resulted in me getting frustrated and fed up with the fandom so that rather backfired. I get the newsletter and sometimes read the genfic. I can not ship or slash these characters (except for Jack Harkness/John Sheppard, because, it's Jack) so I'm rather limited in that sense.
5) Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?
It would be nice if more gen fic writers did.
NCIS
1) What got you into this fandom in the first place?
I had watched NCIS from the beginning (it's JAG days no less) but it never occurred to me to look for people to talk about it with. I had to search online for Torchwood and that got me thinking about NCIS and looked it up to.
2) Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
To some extent I'll probably stay. The show has become disappointing of late, but the discussions are wonderful and there is a nice amount of fic out there. And since this is one of the few shows I can actually read slash in that makes it a much broader fandom for me.
3) Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
Missing, Chained, SWAK, and Twilight probably. The episodes that are Tony-centric, particularly where he's competent and a little h/c doesn't got amiss.
4) Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
Very much so. I've done the occasional icon and obviously written a lot and chatted in a bunch of episode discussions etc.
5) Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?
Sure. Although, NCIS has been fairly wank and shipping-war free, which is nice and I'd hate to see that change.
