Speaking of which... take everything after this with a big grain of salt or ignore it or preface it with: "I'm being a jackass by trashing someone you like... sorry." *sheepish grin again* :-}

As for Steve Guttenberg... if you were to ask me to remember anything from Short Circuit, Guttenberg would be at the bottom of the list. I remember #5, Ben, Stephanie, Howard, and Scrotum more. Hell, even that old couple with the grass in their glove compartment made more of an impression on me than Newton Crosby. In fact, the only reason I remember Newton Crosby at all is because it's such a weird name. Newton Crosby... sounds like a health bar with figs and raisins and a cookie crunch. He's completely upstaged by all the "supposed" secondary actors around him -- and one of them's a robot. No, it's not the worst performance I've ever seen, but it's pretty bland. Doug and I feel you could've dropped him from the movie and still somehow made out OK. That said, so long as he's not learning how to love from a dog and a dolphin, I'm generally indifferent to him.

Ah well. Still seemed worth asking.
I think Guttenberg is very cute (maybe it's a girl thing). Never thought of him as the "primary" actor though - I figured that was Johnny Five and Stephanie.
Ben, though - his lines are definitely taking the cake. :-)

For a second opinion, I think Simpsons put it best... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQ-KZyniB4c
