i just wanted to show you how brave he was

It's weird how you feel you've come to a standstill, but the world around is still moving on..

It's strange how the only thing you wanna do is to see your friend's body being brought back home as soon as possible, yet people around you are still posting about shopping and movies and fun..

It's every parent's nightmare to see their child die before their eyes, and every teenager's horror to have a friend leave them so young.

I just want to show you how brave my bro was.

Sunday, 2/5 - Samuel and QX were at Warwick University over the weekend visiting friends. On Sunday, they went for a football match with the Warwick Singaporeans. 5 Mins into the match, QX said he felt dizzy and collapsed immediately after that. Fortunately, there was an army trained medic and a guy studying medicine(ying biao) among the group. CPR was administered while waiting for ambulance to arrive. QX's mum was notified immediately. (thanks Clement Foo for getting her number). Ambulance brought QX to Walsgrave hospital with Samuel accompanying. The medical team at the hospital managed to stabalize his condition after about 2hours. He was under sedation, drugs and respiratory system were used, basically, QX was on life support, but in stable condition. Meanwhile, QX's mum got a flight immediately from Singapore, Dad went from Guang Zhou to HK to get a flight, brother was making his way from penang to Changi for a flight.
(a big thanks to the Warwick ppl, Nic, Claire, Wayne, Roy, Ying Biao, Huabin, King Lun and many many more)

Monday, 3/5 - Samuel and Yong Sheng picked QX's mum up from Heathrow and sent her to Walsgrave Hospital. Sedation for QX was supposed to end at 5pm, but was continued till Tuesday. QX's brother, Qian liang and his father reached the hospital around mid night. QX's condition remain stable.

Tuesday, 4/5 - QX woke up for a short while in the afternoon. He was aware of his surroundings and family members around him, but he couldnt speak or move his fingers as a response. Later on he suffered from another round of heart attack as well. He is re-sedated and in stable condition again.

Wed, 5/5 - Samuel visited QX and family. Qx is still stable. Lets not forget to stay positive, there is nothing wrong with his heart, brain and lungs, everything is functioning fine.

Thu, 6/5 - Discovered QX got slight liver damage, which is why his eyes are slightly yellow. but he hasnt drank alcohol for over 1 month!! argh

Fri, 7/5 - Docs start removing drugs from his body, adrenaline and a whole lot of other crap. Qx still on light sedation though. At times when qx's mum touch his hand, qx will sort of respond by fidgeting. He is able to cough now as well. He is still on a dialysis machine which the docs plan to remove in a while.

Sat, 8/5 - qx is only on 1 sedative drug now. and its a low dosage. he is looking slightly bloated cause of the IV drip i think, but the nurse said its perfectly normal. herng yih and qx's aunt, carolyn, is up to take care of qx as well.

sun, 9/5 - opened his eyes and can move his body, but the doctor do not think that he is ready to wake up yet so they put him back to sleep for now.

Tue, 13/5- QX is still not awake. It’s been a week and a half since the incident, past few days docs tried to wake him up by reducing the sedation but he does not respond well. He had a recent operation to cut a hole in his throat so that the breathing tube can be inserting through there instead of the mouth as he has extremely violent reactions to it. Things are looking worrisome and we continue to hope for the best.

Mon, 17/5 - not much updates the past few days cause qx's condition was the same. got an update that qx ahd a 3rd heart attack in the wee hours, about 3am here. it took a very long time to revive him, 40 mins this time. so that means 40mins without oxygen to his brain. very high chance of brain damage. further more, the doctors do not know what is causing this and this might be the last time they will be reviving him.

Monday 17th May (GMT) *this is about 3-5am singapore time on the 18th of may*

After the third heart seizure, Qianxiang's organs were failing. The doctors had to use the dialysis machine as his kidney's were failing. His body also produced a high amount of lactate and his blood was becoming highly acidic. Furthermore, Qianxiang's body was not responding to the various drugs being given to him. The consultant in intensive care had told us that Qianxiang was not going to make it within the next 12- 24 hours.

At 7 plus, immediately after his last friend had seen him, Qianxiang's condition deteriorated.

Around 8pm, the doctors told us that Qianxiang was not going to make it. The doctors stopped inducing all the other drugs apart from the anaesthesia for him to be as painless as possible.

Towards the final hour, Qianxiang's heart was beating faintly. He was leaving us.

At approximately 942pm, Qianxiang's heartbeat drew to a close. He had fought the good fight. He had fought for us. He never truly understood what giving up meant. Qianxiang was no quitter.

dont you respect him for this?
he fought hard.
3 heart attacks in a short span of 15days.
bro you have fought so well.

i love you so much, and i'm only glad to have been able to tell it to you many times.
thank you for being in my life.
thank you for living, just living.

Wee Qian Xiang, 20th September 1988 ~ 18th May 2010
