Title: God, how i'd love to see you fall.
Fandom: Harry Potter
Summary: Ron-centric. He muses on Harry. NOT SLASH
God, how I’d love to see you fall:
Harry and Ron sat in companionable silence on the bank of the lake. The sun was setting, and the water was a deep indigo and overhead the sky was crimson streaked with gold and tomorrow was the day Harry was going to face Voldemort.
Harry knew the exact location of Voldemort’s hideout.
Harry knew all the charms and spells he had to get past in order to get to Voldemort.
Harry could cast the Killing Curse with ease.
Harry was ready.
Harry is going to try to kill Voldemort tomorrow,
the thought screamed through Ron’s brain, and he glanced over at his friend. Harry was lying on his back, his eyes closed, and his arms behind his head. Ron sighed inwardly as he studied the features of his best mate. He was worried. Harry was both his best friend and his biggest rival. He was naturally very worried. My best friend is my worst enemy and he doesn’t even know it. He might die tomorrow... but how could Ron tell him? That’ll be an interesting statement... hey Harry, by the way, just though you should know that I hate you, even though you’re my best friend...
No... Ron would most definitely not tell Harry the truth. Besides he didn’t really hate Harry. That was not possible, he was his closest mate. He simply envied and admired and despised the way Harry was... well... Harry; the best Seeker Hogwart’s had ever seen, the son of the legendary Lily and James Potter, the Boy-Who-Bloody-Well-Lived, the boyfriend of Hermione Granger... there were some things Ron could forgive; Harry’s natural ability at Quidditch, Harry’s parentage, Harry’s survival every time Voldemort came after him.... but there was no way Ron could ever forgive him for falling for Hermione. Ginny had cried herself to sleep every night for the year Harry had been with Hermione. Ron couldn’t forgive that either.
Harry spoke suddenly, "Ron? What do you think will happen tomorrow?"
Ron’s reply came easily; it was the truth, after all. "You’ll kill him, mate."
Harry sat up and regarded Ron through his famous emerald eyes, "You really think so?"
Ron nodded calmly, "Yes."
"Why?"
"Because you’re you."
Harry smiled slightly, and gripped Ron’s shoulder tightly and they sat there together, illuminated by the setting sun, for a long time.
"You’re my best mate, Ron."
"You’re my best mate too, Harry."
It was true; Harry would win tomorrow, because he was Harry. And then he would marry Hermione and god only knew what would happen to Ron...
Oh yes, Ron most definitely hated Harry for being Harry. But he also loved Harry for being Harry. And nothing would ever change that.
Title: Unrequited
Fandom: Harry Potter
Summary: Onesided D/H.
Unrequited:
"Love really is everything it’s cracked up to be... it really is worth fighting for, being brave for risking everything for..." Erica Jong.
Harry faltered, because he was human.
Even after all Voldemort had done to him, Harry was still human.
Voldemort was the reason Diggory was dead, and Sirius Black, and Dumbledore, and half the Weasley family, and Harry’s parent’s.
But Harry hesitated.
So, Draco stepped up instead, and he did what Harry was too good to do.
It wasn’t hard.
He was a Slytherin after all... hatred comes natural to Slytherin’s. Everyone knows that.
Some would say he did it for his father.
Some would say he did it to prove his loyalty to Harry.
Some would say he did it in order to redeem himself.
He would say he did it for her.
She would tell him he was being daft and foolish and stupid and she would tell him that he was wrong.
And when he’d simply sit there and stare at her, then, she would turn and run.
Title: If I didn't care
Fandom: Harry Potter
Summary: songfic. Hermione's opinion of Ron and Lavender during HBP.
If I didn’t care:
"If I didn’t care, more that words can say, if I didn’t care, would I feel this way? If this isn’t love, then why do I thrill? And what makes my head Go round and round, While my heart...
Stands still?"
"I hate your worthless brother! It is official, I absolutely hate him!" Hermione screamed as she stormed into the fifth year girls’ dorm.
Ginny looked up at Hermione in confusion from where she sat at the foot of her bed. "What?"
Hermione sunk down into a chair, "I said I hate your brother!"
"What’s he done now?"
"He’s downstairs glued by the mouth to Lavender Brown, that’s what!"
"Oh, that... disgusting isn’t it? But... why does it bother you so much?"
"It doesn’t!"
"Then why were you yelling about it?"
"... Because... it’s gross!"
"Oh please! You’re not his sister, you have no idea what it’s like for me to witness!"
Hermione had the feeling that it was a lot worse for her than it was for Ginny, but she wasn’t about to tell her that.
Except...
Ginny peered at her friend closely, then gasped.
"Hermione!"
"What?"
"You’re in love with Ron!"
"No I’m not!"
"Yes you are! I can see it in your face! You’re in love with him!!"
"Ginny, don’t be stupid, I am not."
Ginny simply looked at her with a yeah, sure... expression on her face
Hermione jumped to her and stomped from the room, "I don’t care what Ron does, I don’t care who Ron kisses, and I don’t care about Ron!"
She stormed off down the staircase and into the Common Room.
She wished she hadn’t.
Ron and Lavender were still there.
They broke apart and stared at her. Lavender shot her a look of annoyance, and went straight back to kissing Ron. But Ron just sat there and looked at Hermione over Lavender’s blond hair
She mouthed, ‘I hate you, Ronald Wesley, and I don’t care about you and what you’re doing one bit.’
She knew he’d understood by the hurt in his eyes.
She turned around and walked back up the stairs.
But she felt no enjoyment, or fulfilment, or superiority.
She hadn’t won.
Far from it.
She went into her dorm and shut the door.
She sat on her bed and stared down at her hands and told herself, over and over, ‘I don’t care, I don’t care, I don’t care, I don’t care...’
Lavender’s laughter echoed all the way up the stairs and through the heavy oaken door.
Hermione shut her eyes against the scalding tears.
‘I don’t care, I don’t care, I don’t care...’
Yes she did, yes she did, yes she did...
Title: Defying gravity
Fandom: Harry Potter
Summary: Ron/Hermione fluff
Defying gravity:
"Gravity cannot be held responsible for people falling in love," Albert Einstein.
Everyone has that one person in their life that they simply cannot live without. That one person they’d die for. That one person they’d kill for. That one person they’d try to save the world for. For Ron Weasley, that person was Hermione Granger.
Because of her, he could do nothing, anything and everything... he felt like the luckiest man in existence, when she smiled at him, he felt like he was on top of the world when she laughed with him, and he felt like he could defy gravity, when she said that she loved him, too.
Title: Valiant boy
Fandom: Harry Potter
Summary:A mother tells her children a bedtime story
Valiant boy:
"For certain is death for the born, and for certain is birth for the dead, therefore, over the inevitable, thou shouldst not grieve..." Bhagavad Gita.
"There was once a boy named Harry Potter. He was the only child of Lily and James Potter. When he was only a year old, a terrible man came, and killed his parents. He tried to kill Harry too, but it didn’t work. So, Harry was sent to live with his dreadful Aunt and Uncle, whom were muggles, and they treated him cruelly, even though Harry’s Aunt Petunia was his mother’s own sister. He endured living with them for 10 years, and would have had to have endured 10 more years, except Harry was a wizard, and when wizard’s turns 11, in England, they go to Hogwart’s. Well Harry went to Hogwart’s... and while on the train he met the two people who would be his best friends forever. He was Sorted into Gryffindor, and so were his two best friends. He had a lot of fun at Hogwart’s; he especially loved playing Quidditch. But Harry’s time there was not all fun and games. Throughout his years at Hogwart’s, he had to watch many of his friends die because of the man who killed his parents. Voldemort was still alive and he wanted to kill Harry. And so, when Harry was in his 7th year at Hogwart’s, after defying Voldemort’s attempts to kill him 5 times, he decided it was time to hunt Voldemort down, and end his life, once and for all. He set out with his two best friends and together they destroyed all the Horcruxes Voldemort had created in order to preserve his life. In the end, the final battle was between Harry and Lord Voldemort." The woman, who was telling her children a bedtime story they’d never heard before, hesitated. This was the part that hurt.
"In the end, Harry killed Voldemort. And Voldemort also killed Harry. The Wizarding world mourned for the loss of the Boy-Who-Lived. He was good and kind and brave. He was our greatest hero. But he was just a boy, and he died when he was only 17. But he was a courageous boy, and the world still grieves."
And so do I, she thought, as she looked at her children.
The youngest, Lily, was asleep on her mothers lap, her brown eyes closed, her red hair framing her face. The twins, James and Sirius, were asleep in their beds. They had matching brown hair and brown eyes. But her oldest son, Harry, was not yet asleep and watching her blue eyes wide.
"You knew him, didn’t you mum? You and dad? You were his best friends, weren’t you?"
For a six year old, her son was a very smart boy.
"Yes, darling. He was the best friend we ever had." Hermione stood, and cradled her daughter close to her, as she softly called for her husband to join them.
Ron wandered in yawning, and lifted Harry up into his arms.
Hermione carried the baby into her room, while her husband dawdled down the hallway, and was subjected to little Harry’s numerous questions.
"Would you still be best friends with him today? What was he like? Did you name me after him?"
"Oh, so you’re mother told you, huh?" Ron glanced down into his son’s eyes, which matched his own. "Well, to answer you’re questions... most definitely, he was the most courageous person I’ve ever known, and yes we did name you after him."
"Will Voldemort come back?"
"No, Harry made sure of that. Voldemort’s gone now; and he can’t ever come back and hurt people again."
But the cost was far too high...
"Do...do you... Th...Th... Think I’ll b... be... be like him"
The man paused as he looked down at his son; the namesake of his best friend, Harry Potter; the most valiant boy that ever lived.
"No one can ever match Harry, but you’re my son and he would have been your Uncle..."
Oh, my dear Ginny, I know how much you miss him...
Harry looked disappointed, but whether it was at the news he could never be as great as his parent’s deceased best friend, or because he could have had the great Harry Potter as an Uncle, his father couldn’t tell.
So he simply said, "But you know what? I think you’ll come pretty close, my boy. I’ll think you’ll come pretty close... he’s watching over you, over all of us, and he’s protecting us... I think he’ll help you out when you need it..."
I miss you, Harry. Every day, all the time. I miss you.
