The first season of Marvel's
Runaways not only established the titular heroes but also their villainous parents in the Pride. When Season 2 begins on Hulu this Friday, the Pride isn't just going to recede into the background now that the kids are on the run.
We recently caught up with several of Runaways' adult cast members as they teased the next steps for the Pride. Intriguingly, James Marsters noted that the Pride never set out to become villains in the first place.
"We didn't come together planning to be evil, we came together to try to save the world," said Marsters. "Jonah said he would help us do that. We've been co-opted and we have no choice. I think the really painful thing about Season 2 is now the kids know it."
On the show, Marsters plays Victor Stein, the father of Chase and husband of Ever Carradine's Janet Stein. Carradine was also on hand to share her insight into the relationships between the parents and their children.
"Every relationship got turned on its head at the end of last season," said Carradine. "And we pick up the second season almost the following day. Our dynamic is going to be a little more complicated..."
"It sort of changed after you shot me," interjected Marsters.
We were also able to check in with Kip Pardue, who plays Frank Dean (Karolina's father), as well as Kevin Weisman (Dale Yorkes) and Brigid Brannagh (Stacey Yorkes), the on-screen parents of Gert. Additionally, Alex's parents Angel Parker (Catherine Wilder) and Ryan Sands (Geoffrey Wilder) spoke about the way Season 2 balances the stories of the children and the adults.
