There's still one part I don't understand.

Before Jade contacted us, the hot springs in Licere went cold. Wasn't that supposed to have something to do with the structure of the continent? Does that...

...does that mean this started before those people were kidnapped in the first place?

I don't know, but I think the plans for the cloudquake went beyond kidnapping four people and performing a ritual underground.

It could be. If this went all the way through the continent, something might have been exposed. We might find it while we're searching for survivors.
