I thought weekends were for relaxing...

But, I spent mine doing something really fun (NOT), and that was replacing all the baseboards in my condo.  My partner in crime for doing this? My mother!  It started out with me suggesting that we get the one baseboard in on the wall where the new wall unit was going to be.  My Mum had the saw, so she brought that down on Saturday morning, and then the fun started.  First of all, have any of you ever had to cut a mitre on a baseboard? No? Well, let me tell you, if you are not good with spacial concepts, it's HARD!  We cut several boards at the wrong angle, and would discuss (or argue ) which way to turn the board on the saw.  I think it was a draw as to who won the arguments.  From one wall getting done, it ended up that we did them all.  That meant I spent all day Sunday working on this as well, so I was rather tired when it was all done.

One other thing - my walls are not straight, they are VERY crooked, so gluing (forget nailing) the baseboards to the walls is not the easiest thing to do.  I kept picking up heavy boxes and pressing them against the walls to try and make the baseboards stay in place after we glued them.  I was using a caulking gun for the big tube of glue, and my right wrist and fingers hurt after using that all day Sunday.  I think Mum was in better shape on Monday than I was, which is a little scary.

Ah well, it got done, finally.  Now I have one little tiny job left to do - I have to fill in the gaps in the baseboards with  white caulking.  I bought one tube on Saturday, and Mum did a little filling in on Sunday.  Her observation was that we would definitely need at least one more tube, maybe two.  That means more lying or kneeling on the floor, oh joy...
