RvB on wikipedia,
Carolina on the RvB wiki. Please note she's coming in from the end of season 9- she's yet to be implanted with her AIs and hasn't gone off the wall yet.
History:
Just a side note, Red vs. Blue borrows heavily from the Halo video games' universe. It's weird, it's random, and it doesn't always make sense, but I've included what fits. If you need any elaboration, please go ahead and ask. I'd be happy to try and work it out.
Nothing is known about Carolina's childhood- nothing about her years in school, or what she did after that. We do know that, at some point, she joined the military- more specifically she joined the Marine division of the UNSC.
Carolina's history is, in large part, the history of Project Freelancer. A program started by Dr. Leonard Church, it was one of the programs designed to combat insurrectionists who were allied against the UNSC [United Nations Security Council.] Using advanced technology, Freelancer trained advanced soldiers picked, allegedly, from Marine recruits. In the Project they then receive advanced weapons and combat training, along with full armor training. Later in the Project they experiment in AI enhancements- something that becomes a hot button issue when they are only permitted a single Smart AI by the government. In hopes to exploit a loophole, the Project takes their only Smart AI- known as 'Alpha'- and drives it insane so that it splinters into AI fragments that they can then use for their Agents. This works for a while until Epsilon- the memories of the Alpha- drives Agent Washington insane and the Project pulls the plug on other AI experimentation.
Filled with a strong desire to prove herself, Carolina quickly made a name for herself in the Project. She outperformed every other Agent and soon climbed to the top ranked position, becoming the number one Freelancer around. We don't know how long she held that position before the events of Season 9 but it's clear from other Freelancer's dialogue that it's been long enough that most people assume she'll stay up there. Despite other Freelancer's protests, Carolina was sent to keep an eye on certain missions when the situation called for it, and clean up any messes that spring up.
One such mission is one that Agents South and North Dakota are sent on, some recon on an oil platform run by, supposedly, insurrectionists. Their data retrieval goes south when they accidentally alert the entire platform to their presence. Despite a good effort on their parts to escape on their own, South and North
Things start to change for them when Agent Texas shows up. After proving herself in a three on one training session, it's clear that Carolina starts to get suspicious about their newest recruit. It's obvious from her later accusations that she starts to research what she can about Texas but likely comes up with very little. At the same time, the Project as a whole seems to take a change for the more sinister- something some members of the Project seem to notice while others are willfully ignorant. For some reason they're coming up against cops and the military now- a big difference from their previously Insurrection-based missions of the past.
But things continue regardless of any misgivings. They come up on the biggest mission of their careers: to retrieve an artifact known only as the Sarcophagus and bring it back safely. As the current number one, Carolina was left in charge of this mission and headed up Team A- consisting of Agents Maine, York, and Washington- who would lead the infiltration of a 110 story building to retrieve the artifact. Team B- with Agents North Dakota, Wyoming, and Connecticut- would attack an official carrying a briefcase with the security code they needed to unlock the Sarcophagus at the same time.
Despite a few hitches along the way, Team A is successful in retrieving their objective- only to have Agent Texas show up to check in on them. Outraged, Carolina confronts her on the roof, insisting it was her who had blown up the oil platform all those missions ago and demanded to know why she was here. Naturally, Texas doesn't bother to explain herself, but they manage to set this aside long enough to get the Sarcophagus onto evac transport. However, Team B failed their objective and Carolina, York, and Maine made their way to retrieve the briefcase containing the data they needed.
After dispatching the official they attempted to retrieve the briefcase for the Project- only be chased around the city by a group of soldiers who wanted to keep them from the briefcase. They seem to have it in their sights near the end but at the last minute Agent Texas takes the briefcase, and all the credit, back to command, leaving Carolina absolutely livid.
The last time we see Carolina she is staring at the rankings board, staring at her new place as the number two agent in the Project, where she is confronted by the Director. He tells her they're ready to begin the second stage of the Project, where they may ask her to do a great many questionable things. She insists that she's ready- that she was willing to do anything for him and the Project.
Personality:
Like so many in Project Freelancer, Carolina is highly competitive. In fact 'competitive' might not quite cover the headstrong attitude that Carolina embodies on a daily basis but it's just going to have to do. If you can jump high, she's going to try and jump higher. If you can get through a training simulation in 5 minutes than she's going to beat it in 4 or she's not going to be happy. She likes outperforming other people and, hell, she likes outperforming herself. She shows time and again that she is worthy of the spot she holds in the Project and will get defensive if you try to suggest otherwise. While she is normally cool and collected she can get on-edge when her place is threatened- case in point her attitude near the end of the Sarcophagus mission, where she was practically livid when Agent Texas beat her to the punch. She doesn't take kindly to suggestions that she may not be quite as good as she's worked to be and is quick to prove otherwise when she can.
In part keeping her place on the top of the mountain, Carolina has had to be detail oriented from the get-go. She clearly researches her missions in-depth ahead of time and knows most of the ins and the outs before she even gets there. She likes to be prepared for any situation and she likes to prepare her teammates as much as she can. Despite her competitive nature- or maybe because of it- she does her best to keep her fellow Project members safe on and off the field. She cares about the other people she's trained and worked with day after day for who knows how many years and it shows. She does what she has to to complete a mission but she takes the time to push teammates out of the way of incoming bullets, displays anger when they get injured on the field, and does what she can to get them to the finish line unharmed. They've been together for so long that they truly are a team and, probably, something like family at that point. She expresses concern when South throws a tantrum after her own rank change and she is quick to get to Maine's aid when he gets shot, repeatedly, in the throat, not to mention her blatant concern when York falls victim to a grenade. They're all important to her, and she shows it when she can.
We have no idea why but Carolina has a large amount of blind faith and devotion in the Director, something that's going to get dangerous considering the kind of experiments that man is ready to perform on his own men. She claims it's because he's 'given her everything' but doesn't elaborate beyond that- but she makes it clear that anything he asks of her is fair game, even if it puts herself or others in jeopardy. Given the fact she's still feeling a huge blow to hero ego from being knocked down a rank, she's probably even more eager to prove herself to him at this point than she ever had been.
At the end of the day she seems like she's friendly to her fellow Freelancers, engaging in playful banter with them when the situation calls for it [or in the case of her and York, sometimes when it really doesn't.] She's on good terms with most of them, it seems, despite her position and doesn't seem to actively dislike any of them- even South who makes it pretty clear she isn't Carolina's biggest fan. Carolina also doesn't have much in the way of a sense of humor- she can make some comments here and there that are pretty amusing but overall she plays it straight. It's not that she gets annoyed by jokes [unless they are York's and they are terrible] but she just doesn't seem to let it click.
Abilities, Weaknesses and Power Limitations:
Physically, Carolina is more than in shape. She's very athletic and seems to be exceptionally good at acrobatics if they way she flips around a battlefield is any indication. She can throw a punch and more than take one- but chances are, you aren't going to be able to lay a hand on her. In training sessions she, apparently, has never been hit and out on the field she blows the competition away. Of course this is all taken from her activity in her power armor but considering you need to be physically fit to utilize power armor properly, it is a safe assumption that she can perform many of these feats outside of her armor as well.
In her armor she has two enhancements: color change and super speed. The color change allows Carolina to blend in with her environment and all but disappear to enemy eyes- but it's a safe assumption that she would still show up on thermals if her opponent were using them. The super speed is exactly what it says- she can run at least 80mph with this, however there is no definite speed given, and how long it can stay active is unknown. Without an AI to perform the calibrations for these enhancements, however, it isn't safe for her to use them very often as they can malfunction and fuck up in very bad ways. She seems comfortable using her color change without any aid, but the super speed was only used once in, what she deemed as, an extreme situation.
Mentally, Carolina is very good at thinking on her feet. She can improvise with the best of them and quickly analyses a situation that's gone awry to come up with new strategies. Carolina keeps herself informed on all intel she's allowed access too and seems to be in charge of devising plans for her teams to allow them reach their objectives- something she seems well-versed in.
Inventory:
Carolina has one suit of armor from Project Freelancer. It's extremely similar to the MJONIR MARK VI armor from the Halo series in that it has shields for bullets and other impacts and has a armor lock mode to help protect the person inside by freezing the armor and allowing them to heal.
She has a
magnum handgun and a grappling hook. She also has several small, interlocking puzzles. Otherwise she has nothing else on her.
Appearance: Carolina is roughly 5'5" given that her motion/face capture model is that height, which makes her kind of tiny compared to the other Freelancers [we dare you to say it though.] She has long red hair, big blue eyes, and she's clearly Caucasian. Her armor is a light blue/green color, MJOLNIR MARK VI as mentioned earlier, with Recon body/shoulders and a Rogue helmet.
here she is in armor and here she is
with her helmet off.
Age: Probably early 30s? Let's say she's 32.

She ran.
As fast as her legs could carry her- no, faster. Faster than any set of human legs could possibly go. That white briefcase up ahead of her was the only thing she could see as the road disappeared under her feet, the gap closing as the seconds ticked by in her head. He might have had a jetpack on but she knew she could catch up to him if she just stayed on target. Nothing could get in her way right now- she'd make sure of it.
This shouldn't have been as hard as it was. The mission was difficult, she'd known it would be from the moment she'd gotten the initial intel from the Director, but she hadn't anticipated this level of frustration. Her blood ran hot in her veins, had her heart beating as rapidly as she could handle, and she knew the cause of it. More than the mission, more than the fact she needed to close in on this guy before their window of opportunity slammed shut, she knew that the fact Agent Texas was hot on her trail had her pushing herself. Had her making every step count more than it ever had.
Skyscrapers wouldn't stop her, the gaps in the air nothing more than a hop at this speed. She'd cross them all like they weren't even there. Closer, closer... She'd be on him in moments and her fingers were gripping into fists so hard it was a wonder her armor didn't crack. Carolina wanted that briefcase so bad she could feel nothing else- all worries about herself, her team, all of it, went out the window in her mad dash to get to the objective. To prove that she was better than their new recruit despite the Director's favor-
She collided with the enemy and they tumbled through the air, but a swift punch to his chest and he was flying again. Far away from her and she had it, she had it! Finally it was hers, and everything would be fine, and she could feel the pleased grin spread on her lips behind her helmet. An expression that was jolted off of her face as a truck hit her body, sending her skittering into the nearest wall, and the briefcase across the highway. And right into the open hand of that goddamn bitch.
Carolina could barely get up on her feet, felt more disoriented than she could remember being in recent memory, her hand gripped against her side. But she grit her teeth and felt, more than anything, a burning rage that filled her veins and left her wanting to taste blood as she glared at the black figure across from her. The agent that took everything she'd worked so hard for today, who was going to get all the praise for what her team had done...
Better luck next time. Yeah fucking right.

Last time I checked, I wasn't scheduled for any inter-stellar transport. The tech on board is a little new to me, too.
Is this a UNSC vessel? If so, I'd like to speak with the commanding officer immediately. My own comms aren't allowing me to contact anyone on my own.
