VALENCIA, Calif. (KABC) -- Actor Paul Walker, who was best known for his role as Brian O'Connor in the "Fast and the Furious" movie series, died in a car crash in Valencia, his publicist said. He was 40.
Walker died Saturday afternoon, Ame Van Iden told the Associated Press.
Another person, who has not been identified, was also found dead inside the fiery wreck near Rye Canyon Loop and Kelly Johnson Parkway, authorities said.
Patrol deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station responded to that location around 3:30 p.m. and found a vehicle engulfed in flames. Los Angeles County firefighters arrived, extinguished the fire and found the two victims inside the vehicle, sheriff's officials said. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner's office will determine the victims' cause of death. The cause of the solo-vehicle crash remains under investigation.
A statement on the actor's Facebook page said he was a passenger in a friend's car, and that Walker was in the area to attend a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide.
"We ... are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news," the statement said.
Walker was working on the latest "Fast & Furious" movie at the time of his death. He also starred in the suspense drama, "Hours," a movie that is set for release this month.
