Song of Day

A/N: I am apparently in the (bad?) habit of posting my stuff everywhere once I write it. :-P Written for PoetryAssignment.

Once the quietude of the night is gone

And the morning sun lifts her golden brow,

Once the reign of midnight is fully done

And the stars and moon to pure white clouds bow

The bluebirds sing of happiness and life

The mourning doves forswear to grieve no more

The prancing deer proclaim an end to strife

The leafy trees shake down the fruits they bore

Rays of light pierce all but the deepest brush

And formerly murky waters run free

Some creatures rejoice in the green and lush

While night’s lovers burrow, afraid to see

For, to the lurking creatures of the deep,

The morning dawn only disturbs their sleep.
