Oddballs: Crash into me

Oct 18, 2011 00:54

[It's the strangest thing. He can feel that it's the TARDIS. His TARDIS. But it isn't. It's not quite right, and it's not just because she looks different. That could happen. It has happened. No, it's not that... He can't put his finger on it and if there anything the Doctor can't resist, it's a good mystery.]

Stay close. Don't wander off. [He ( Read more... )

[Amy had been curious about the console. The Doctor was always so protective of it and she just wanted to touch a few of the buttons and see if they really did what he said they did. So while she had him off in another part of the TARDIS, she snuck up front to take a look. Her fingers hover above a tantalizing red button. Who can resist pushing it? She doesn't know exactly what it does and has a moment of thought that this might be a bad idea. But no matter. It wouldn't be here if it would blow them up, right?

At the sound of a voice behind her, she whips around, a hot blush lighting her cheeks before she realizes...] You're not the Doctor.

Well, you're 0 for 1 so far, but go on- I like this game.

[He walks forward slowly, crossing his arms over his chest.]

No matter who I am. Who are you? And more importantly, why were you about to press that button?

[She mimics his stance in a defensive move. She appears brave and indignant.] No, you're not.

[She stands a little taller.] Name's Amy Pond. It doesn't matter why I was about to press that button. You should be more worried about the Doctor finding out about this.

[Aaaaaand the Doctor has come back from where ever he wandered off to, mostly because he didn't trust Amy alone in the control room for too long. He just hoped she hadn't tried to press the shiny red button.]

All right, Pond, nice try, but Iiiiii.... [And he is just going to trail off and stare. At himself. And then look at Amy.] What did you press.

[She turns and looks at him.] Me? I didn't touch anything! I went to press that button over there. [She waves her hand in the general area of the control panel.] And before I could do anything he was yelling at me not to touch anything. Much like you would have, Doctor.

[His Time Lord sense is tingling B| ]

Whatever game this is you two are playing at, it's over now. Now this is my ship and you've done enough damage.

[He can tell what you are, Doctor, but can't figure out that it's his own future-face. Plus another Time Lord shouldn't exist, so it MUST be a trick. Suspicious paranoid Doctor is both suspicious and paranoid.]

Why would you press the buttons I have told you not to press the buttons; why will no one listen to a thing I say? [So exasperated, Pond, you don't even know. But back to... himself.]

Right, yes, you're not wrong-- [Oh god the universe was about to explode again, wasn't it; he really needed to stop messing with his own timeline.

He comes down the stairs, standing tall near the console as he faces himself.] Now, [He begins, in a very low, very serious voice,] You should not be here. [No, really, he checks for this sort of thing before he lands very carefully!]

[Now that sounds familiar...]

Shouldn't be here? Of course I should be here. Unless...

[Gears are turning here and then...]

This is not good.

Unless. Yes. Exactly. [Has he got it? Eleven sure hopes he's got it.

He just... gives himself the once over, wondering at his old fashion sense-- really, that look had not been cool at all. And this would be and absolutely brilliant opportunity if not for the horrible universe-ending certainty that was going to happen.] So. Shoo.

[Keep your fezzes and your bowties to yourself, floppy hair B| Leather jackets are the coolest of the cool. So is angst.]

Did you just shoo me?

[LIES. Nothing is cooler than a bow-tie. He's the Doctor, the Oncoming Storm, the thousand-year old man, he would know.]

Yes. Very good. Now leave before you break something. [Like the fabric of reality.]

[She'll side eye at Eleven.] Doctor, mind telling me what's going on? And just who is he?

[And he spins and walks away and heads right over to Amy, catching her arms and giving her a very big, very fake grin.] Nothing, he's no one, everything's fine, and this is a wonderful example of why we shouldn't press buttons while the Doctor's not around.

I didn't press any buttons, Doctor. He just appeared out of thin air.

Yes, well, it may have been the thought of you wanting to press buttons; the TARDIS is very sensitive like that. [A pause and he reaches out to touch the console gently.] I'm sure she didn't mean it. [And he is totally talking to the TARDIS with that last, and not Amy.]

I've thought about pressing a lot of buttons in here, Doctor. [Namely: Yours. But never mind that.] Nothing's happened before.
