"Sam!" Rachel's been practically buzzing around the house all morning, trying to get everything ready for Sam. The guest bedroom had originally been something she and her Dad had decorated, but she'd allowed her Daddy to remodel it with darker, more neutral tones. Something that would be easier for Sam to change to his tastes.

Her Dads were gone now, but they'd left the card for groceries on the kitchen counter so that Sam could stock up on things he'd like to eat.

After prom, Rachel had definitely considered Sam a friend. So there was really no reason her friend should have to go pay to stay in a hotel when he was coming back to Lima at her request and she had an empty bedroom.

Swinging the door open, she throws her arms around his neck before stepping back to let him inside. "Come in, come in! Is that all of your stuff?"

He's nervous that Rachel's dads will be the ones to answer the door, who he's kind of terrified of meeting in case they're suspicious of him because he's a boy and all dads want their daughters to stay as far away from boys as possible. It's any wonder how Rachel managed to convince them to let him stay with them. Maybe the whole only child thing means she always gets what she wants.

Smiling in relief when it's Rachel who opens the door to him, his arms come around her whilst he hugs her for a bit. He's missed her, though he's still embarrassed about the whole... dollar incident in Kentucky. It makes him blush thinking about it. Apparently stripping in front of strangers is fine, but stripping in front of friends is mortifying for him.

"This is everything." He picks up his bag and his guitar case, wiping his feet on the doormat politely before stepping through. "It's not much, but clothes and my guitar are all I need."

Her Dads trust Rachel wholeheartedly. They know that Sam is just a friend, and they also made it clear that there was to be no funny business either way. And Rachel doesn't like keeping secrets from her Dads, so either way it goes, they're fine with Sam staying because they're not expecting anything to happen. And...you know. The whole only child thing means she gets what she wants.

The dollar incident is still fresh (and embarrassing) in Rachel's mind. She'd noticed his physique during Rocky and she'd always thought he was an attractive boy, but seeing him stripping was just too much. She can't decide if she's more mortified that she saw him stripping or that she liked it.

"Come on, I'll show you your room." She shuts the door behind him, leading him upstairs. "The door at the end of the hall is the bathroom. This is my room and my Dad's room is right here and," Straight across the hall from Rachel's room, next to her Dad's room, is the guest room and she leads him straight in.

He still vaguely remembers Rachel's house from her party, though he only really remembers the basement and making out with a crying, hysterical Santana... Good times.

Following her upstairs, he figures her dads must not be home otherwise she would have introduced him to them by now. He really wants to make a good impression on them because although he doesn't mind staying at the motel, he'd really prefer to live with people rather than be by himself. If he goes back to that motel, he'll only be reminded of his family and feel more homesick.

He steps inside the guest room and looks around. The colors of the walls remind him of his room in his house that got repossessed. It's enough to make him smile because he loved that room and now he feels like he's back home, which he is, because he's never felt more at home than when he's in Lima. "I really appreciate you letting me stay here, Rachel," he thanks her gratefully.

"Sam, you came back at my request." Rachel points out. "It's the least I could do, give you a place to stay." Stepping forward, she wraps her arms around him to hug him again, stepping back. "My Dads won't be home until around dinner time. But I'm going to the grocery store later. You should come with me, get some food you'd like to have in the house."

He had come back at her request, but he wanted to come back just as much as she needed him to. In the back room of Stallions, she had looked at him with pleading eyes for him to return and he just couldn't say no to her. Not when he wanted his old life back too much. He wants to win Sectionals and feel proud of himself because pride is something he hasn't felt since becoming a stripper.

Rachel gives awesome hugs so he can't help but hold onto her a little longer than when they hugged at the front door, grinning at her when she pulls back. "Sure, I'd love to come. I'm totally craving Doritos right now..."

"Great! I'm going to go make a grocery list and do some vocal exercises since I didn't go to my lesson this morning. You make a list too, and I'll let you know when I get ready to leave. Oh, and there are towels in the bathroom if you want to freshen up, I know being in the car for a couple hours isn't comfortable." She grins, before dancing out of the room and straight across to hers. She leaves the door open, so her exercises are audible throughout most of the house.

He can't help but chuckle at her when she practically skips out of the room. Following her advice, he freshens up in the bathroom and then puts his clothes away. Most people would have found Rachel's vocal exercises annoying, but Sam doesn't mind the noise so much, listening to her from across the hall whilst lying on his bed, writing down a list of food he likes.

About an hour later, Rachel, purse on her arm, flounces back into the room. "Sam! Are you ready to go?"

We can skip; grocery shopping isn't all that exciting anyway XD dontcrysammy February 14 2012, 01:56:56 UTC
It doesn't take long for Sam to write up his list and by the time Rachel is ready, he's playing around with his guitar. "I'm good to go." Putting his guitar aside, he follows her out of the room and they take a trip to the grocery store ( ... )

Seeing Sam near her locker makes Rachel a little sad. Between the fight with Blaine today and what happened with Mercedes (she'd overheard she and Kurt talking), his return to school isn't going as successfully as she'd thought it would. It's past time for him to be able to get back on the football team, and without a letterman jacket and Glee, he's just as big a freak as the rest of them. She feels bad for asking him to come back, now, even if he seems excited to be back when the things he's used to aren't collapsing around him.

"Did you have a good day?" She tries anyway, putting on her brightest smile and turning to grab her things from her locker.

Totally forgot Rachel was suspended during this :| Ignore? Also is she with Finn for this verse? dontcrysammy February 14 2012, 02:24:02 UTC
Sam puts on a brave face for her. "I didn't get slushied?" He looks on the bright side. Though it's only a matter of time before it happens now he doesn't have a letterman jacket to protect him from slushie facials.

He notices she has quite a few books to put in her bag that will make it heavy. "Let me take those," he offers to carry them for her like a gentleman.

"Silver lining." She smiles, starting to pull her books out. Rachel knows it won't be long, but she would rather pretend like they're both unaware of the darker corners of their school. But maybe while he's in the shower she'll steal him some extra clothes to stick in her locker...

"Oh no, I've got it." She smiles, trying to shift her bag to hold it open with one hand while the other dumps her books inside. Of course, because she insists she's fine, the books all have to start slipping.

Sam sees the fall of her books coming. Luckily he's quick to act and moves her out of the way before all the books topple on top of her, catching them before they hit the floor.

"You can have one." He places one book inside her bag. "I'll take the rest." He holds onto her other books, giving her a look that says she has no choice but to let him carry them. "See it as me paying you in kindness for letting me stay at your house for free."

Rachel pouts but doesn't protest, grabbing the handle of her bag. "Fine. But only to the car!" She tells him, heading out to her car in the parking lot. She unlocks it from afar, popping the truck and lifting it so they can drop their stuff inside.

"You got lucky that time, Evans. Next time, I'm carrying my own stuff."

Sam rolls his eyes fondly at her pouting as he follows her to the car. "Yes, ma'am..." He dumps her books along with his backpack in the trunk, closing it afterwards.

"So... do you wanna hang out tonight after we do homework?" he asks her once they're inside her car. "Watch a movie or something? I don't mind watching one of those musicals you like..." He's only seen Rocky Horror because of his part as Creature in those gold shorts.
