The Hermione Mitt Journey: Day 2 - "Is it supposed to be triangular?"

Jan 18, 2011 13:16

The title for todays journal entry is brought to you by a friend of mine who was watching me knit via Skype and asked me that...yeah...she's not a knitter.

The mitts are coming along. I've finally settled on colours and after much picture examination (I will post the pics I used on the final pattern as reference), I came to the final count of 9 (nine!)! Through some stroke of luck, however, they were all colors I already had left over from other projects which is definitely something I would try to do when you attempt this because you don't use much of any one color.

I may have finally figured out a way to get the machine knit look by hand. It's not exact, but it's close and incredibly easy.

Here's a progress pic:

I'm hoping to at least get to the thumb gusset tonight, as making that will be another journey ENTIRELY. I'm also trying to keep some of the baggie look Hermione's had. We'll see how that goes.

Until tomorrow...I remain your servant. Dora.
