A Deathly Hallows Graveyard Beret
So, the new trailer premiered and I fell in LOVE with this hat:
I went to work, found no pattern for anything close to it so I said "Hey! I'll make one up as I go!!!"
Here is the pattern: (please note, this was done by memory, so please let me know if any corrections are needed)
Need:
Size 7 dpn
Size 8 dpn
Yarn for size 8 (I used "I love this Yarn" Rosy Cheeks - I think)
MAJOR EDIT: It seems that the way I INC is not conventional. When it says INC, knit into the front and back of the same stitch. With the K1, INC instruction, you should turn 2 sts into 3, which is how I get to 122 from 82. You basically have 150% of the sts you started with. Hope this helps!
CO 82 sts
K1, P1 ribbing around for 5 rounds with size 7 needles
Change to size 8 needles
(K1, INC,) around until last 2, K2 (122 sts)
Begin pattern rounds:
1 -K2, P2 around
2 -K2, P2 around
3 -P2, K2 (you should be purling what you just knit for 2 rows and vice versa)
4 -P2, K2
Repeat rounds 1 - 4 until the piece measures 5.5" from the cast on edge.
You are now going to begin top shaping (NOTE: You will go in and out of EXACTLY following the pattern, but you won't be able to tell on the finished product. No worries :) )
1 -*S1, K2tog, psso, K1, P2, K2, P2, K2, rep from * around to last repeat of this pattern. Instead of slipping a st and K2tog, knit/purl to the end (should be 2 extra sts)
2 (and every alternating round to end)-K/P in pattern
3 -*S1, K2 tog, psso, K1, P2, K2, P2, rep from * around to last repeat. Do as round 1.
4 - Repeat Round 2.
5 - *S1, K2 tog, psso, K1, P2, K2, rep from * around to last repeat. Do as round 1.
6 - Repeat Round 2.
7 - *S1, K2 tog, psso, K1, P2, rep from * around to last repeat. Do as round 1.
8 - Repeat Round 2
9 - *S1, K2 tog, psso, K1, P2, K2, rep from * around to last repeat. Do as round 1.
10 - Repeat Round 2
11 - *S1, K2 tog, psso, K1, P2, rep from * around to last repeat. Do as round 1.
12 - Repeat Round 2
13 - *S1, K2 tog, psso, K1 rep from * around to last repeat. Do as round 1.
14 - Repeat Round 2
Weave tail through leftover sts and pull shut.
