Don't Tell Neil...
"The Too Much Song" (on the Dinosaurchestra album) makes me CRY.
I love that he would put such a painfully sweet and tender love song at the end of a concept album about adventures through time. It's especially poignant because it's right after Dinosaurchestra part III, which is about the meteor killing everyone.... so it gives the listener the feeling that even after everything dies, there's still this love Neil feels for this girl.
"You're too much, or am I not enough?" he sings. Can you imagine Neil being "not enough" ever? in ANY context? The fact that someone moved Neil to write that blows my mind. It's so deeply sweet.
On his commentary for this song, he seems almost embarrassed to share something this personal. He apologizes for not having a secret silly track at the end. But really, how could you end an album better than this?
