I started reading a book titled Bodily Harm: The Breakthrough Healing Program for Self-Injurers by Karen Conterio and Wendy Lader.
They are the directors of the SAFE (Self Abuse Finally Ends) program in Illinois. It's a 30-day inpatient treatment program. And the only one I know of it's kind that is geared specifically toward SI.
I am going to post something I've already liked that I read from the foreward (if people want me to continue to post things I find particularly helpful, let me know, and I will continue to do so).
"Wouldn't it be easy if someone else could just take responsibility for you, take charge of your life, keep you safe from yourself? Wouldn't it be nice if someone just could take care of you, to show you how much they care about you? ... There is nobody on earth who can, or will, save you from yourself. You are going to have to do it for yourself--but not by yourself. ... Remember, getting "help" doesn't mean finding a savior."
That just seemed to ring a lot of bells with me.
~hugs and hopeful healing to us all~
