Quite a Day

Ok, its about midnight now, which for an old fogey / working stiff like me is getting pretty late. Work was work, where I worked but there was quite a bit of excitement as we all heard about the terrorist threat that caused the police to close the Harbor Tunnel and check vehicles going through the other tunnel. Even though I don't take the tunnels I figured that traffic on the beltway would be even worse than usual given the circumstances so I finally did one of those myriad of things I've been meaning to do since I moved back down here, which in this instance is take a back-roads route back home. Let me tell you, after spending all this time down here I almost forgot what real trees looked like. It is quite a nice route and was a very relaxing drive, especially compared to beltway rush hour traffic. I think I might make it my standard route home from now on.

Had a Karate lesson today. Once again, a good workout. My flexibility and balance are still fairly decent but could definitely use some improving (speaking of balance, I slipped on the stairs yesterday, grabbed the bannister which broke off and so I promptly fell on my bottom. It was a little sore but overall I'm perfectly fine. Need to replace the bannister though)

Unless a faculty meeting runs really long (and I hear rumors its supposed to be contentious), tomorrow I'm supposed to meet with Kendall to look over the stuff I've worked on since graduation. I've spent the remainder of the night trying to write out orchestral scores and hoping that my computer scores are decent enough for the smaller pieces rather than writing them by hand. So yeah, I'll be on campus tomorrow around 5:30ish and will probably stick around for a performance of Croatian music and will then just be on campus if people want to do anything.
