"Things are done the way they are for a reason." Hah.
Yes, things are inefficient and unfair (verging on discriminatory) at Cove Theatre and yet, my friend can't bring a rational discussion of strategy to his personal LiveJournal without getting told to be put in his place by someone lacking the intestinal fortitude to leave a name. As viruently as I rail against corporate capitalism, I was always under the impression that while a manager position was subservient to the owner, they were granted some deal of autonomy. The problem, friend, is not that Donny complains about the irrationality and dictatorship of Brandon Sanders, the problem is that these problems exist in the first place. It's pretty obvious to me that Real Estate Mogul Brandon Sanders should not be running a business of any kind, especially one whose workforce and target audience is tied so closely to his extracurricular endeavors (the "church").
I do agree that we all have the privilege to choose our workplace, but this alone does not provide an answer for why so many stay in awful jobs in the first place. People do take bad orders from bad bosses, go home and complain to their friends. Perhaps it is loyalty to the place of business; freedom of contract doesn't explain emotional investments. Or maybe...it's because the system is fucked. (Apologies for the crass language.) Those unqualified, those undeserving give unwarranted orders to a disaffected and juvenile workforce. The pure disposability of a young and exploitable workforce is precisely what keeps poorly-run businesses functioning.
But seriously, thanks for taking the easy way out and blaming the worker. Thanks for not taking the time to look beyond the concrete complaints and seeing that the problem is one of owners and (mis)managers. "Welcome to life"? Your statism sickens me.
