Quick update on the fly:
Maff's dad officially died of a cerebrovascular accident and a myocardial infarction...thats a stroke & heart attack to you and me. Turns out he had the stroke first and the heart attack second, which in a way makes it better. At least he would have gone quickly and before he realised what was going on. I dunno, it just seems better that way.
Maff's been busy sorting out the death certificate and things like that, I think it's helping him get through it. The funeral directors came around yesterday to sort out the funeral, they said it was probably going to be the end of next week and I was praying that it wasn't going to be the Thursday because that's Maff's 25th birthday and I thought the last thing he needs is to have to bury his dad on his birthday. But it's going to be the 9th so that's one small blessing I guess. His whole family is really close and they're all pulling together, it's a really heartwarming thing to see. It's just a shame that it takes something like this to bring it all out.
His dad had plenty of pensions and savings stashed away everywhere, so his mam is going to be well looked after. The mortgage will obviously be paid off by his life insurance, and he's got 2 pensions plus various saving schemes to sort out too. There was a big stress on Tuesday about the car, because his dad was deceased the insurance is invalid now and they were worrying about it getting nicked or something. Anyway, we managed to get temp cover under one of his uncles and Maff will be covered on it from next week so when I come back down to London he can still run around doing bits and bobs. His mam's decided that she wants us to have the Focus, because she doesn't want to sell it because it's only 18 months old and his dad ADORED that car. So we're having the Focus (which she is going to insure for the first year because it's a 1.8 turbo diesel and it's going to be expensive, even under my name with 6 years no claims), then selling Stavros and giving the money to Toph for him to have driving lessons with. When he passes his test his mam will then get him a little runaround with a small engine and insure it for him. It seems a funny thing to focus on at a time like this but they were all really worried about it. I guess his car was his pride and joy and he would have wanted to make sure it was well looked after, so it kinda makes sense.
I came back to London yesterday to pick up some clean clothes after Tuesday's emergency pants run to ASDA. Did 2 loads of washing so I've got clothes to come back to, washing the pots and generally making sure that I'm not going to come back to a house with lots of sentient crockery. I can't believe how bloody cold it is too. I'm going to be back in London Tues-Thurs next week, then go home Thurs night for the funeral. I don't know whats going on with work re: compassionate leave etc so I could do with going back. Plus, there's nothing I can really do in Donny at the minute anyway. I'm rambling now.
tl;dr version - funeral on 9th April, day after Maff's birthday :(
