*Twin Cities, Minnesota*
We are health care workers, medical students and community activists
committed to creating a meaningful response to the Republican National
Convention, coming to St. Paul September 1-4, 2008.
As the North Star Health Collective (NSHC), we are involved in
coordinating and providing health care services, resources, and training to
ensure the safety of our community - the weeks before, during, and after the
convention. We are also committed to promoting locally accessible,
comprehensive, free health care for all.
Thousands are expected to attend the RNC, hundreds will need help. We want
to have an organized, unified response and we want it to support the
existing health care community.
*We will be:*
1. Training people interested in becoming a street medic to help provide
care on the streets.
2. Offering other trainings for those interested in expanding their capacity
and knowledge
3. Helping staff existing wellness clinics to meet the increasing number of
people who will be in the Twin Cities.
4. Providing a clinic that will offer care specifically for the RNC.
5. Supporting the existing networks that already advocate for affordable,
quality health care for all.
*We need YOU!*
· We are looking for people interested in *receiving or giving
trainings*. Let us know what you're looking for or what you can provide!
Share your skills, learn from those coming from across the country, and
expand the Twin Cities network.
· If you work at or are involved in a health care clinic and would
like to *extend your hours or donate clinic space* - please let us know! We
can plug in trained individuals to help staff the clinic or keep the doors
open a couple extra hours.
· Donations of *supplies, finances and other resources* are welcome
- just ask! We have started collecting and are applying for grants.
· If you are a medical professional and want to be involved, we need
your skills, expertise and experience.
