Ugh, this writer should have been at the immigration symposium we had a few weeks ago. It was so informative from all the different angles: people who were anti-undocumented imigrants, history professors, illegal immigrants themselves.

That being said, the most ignorant part of this article is that she assumes it's so easy for Latin Americans who want to come here to magically become legal. Obviously, the writer's friend is wealthy and has high social status. Of course it was easy for her family to become legal. That's the exception, not the rule.

The most galling part is her last paragaph. This country was formed by people who wanted to change the existing government.

In cocnlusion, what an idiot.

If our United States wants to remain strong, then we must stand behind how our country was formed

I'm not exactly a huge supporter of illegal immigration...

But this person is an idiot. This has always been a melting pot and it will continue. It's sad because she has views very similar to that of skinheads. They'll throw in the illegal immigration card because they think it's a way of justifying their racisms when they say "Those Mexicans are taking our jobs!" because they don't want to accept the facts. If you grow up in America, you have utmost of oppurtunities for your life when it comes to Education and if you squander those away and now in comes lowly-skilled migrant worker who is willing to do a physical labor job for much less than you, that's noone's fault but your own.

Immigration has always been a part of this country and change will always be a part of this country but like I just said we're given education and with education comes change. It's usually the uneducated that want things to stay the same and obviously the author here squandered some of that away.
