So it turned out to be a very fun evening (into early morning). :-) We
met this nice guy who was literally wearing his heritage on his shirt
in capital letters: Frankfurt, Germany. He was first generation
American, but spoke German fluently. It's so frustrating to have to dig
sooooo deep into my memory of the little German I thought I learned in my
4 years in high school and it's even more frustrating to come out
empty-handed. :-) My grandmother Edeltraude is German. How
embarrassing that I speak such very very poor German.
Then there was Jose. Jose was quite the adventurer. He spoke a little
about his travels through Scandinavia and Europe, but was incoherent
half the time (his eyes were like saucers - cocaine will do that to you,
Jose explained regretfully).
On a different note... my significant other e-mailed his girlfriend
who wants us to go scuba diving. I always wanted to learn to dive.
I just hope we can finish the course
before my school starts again. I decided to sign up for French. The
whole concept of learning French through English freaks me out a
little (French written phonetically for English students blows my
mind), but in order to get a job with any international organizations
(ever), French will be a necessity.
