Okay, I *finally* posted the pictures from this past 80's night as well as February's 80's night. Fun fun fun. If you go here
http://pics.livejournal.com/donnahayward/ ye shall find the little 80's square. Anywhoo, I had much fun both nights, as I've said, although I did feel a bit out of my element (funny, the club used to be like a second home). I suppose that's natural, though. Oh, but my faith in humanity was totally restored! I lost $15, and whilst digging through my purse frantically searching for it, some guy came up, asked if I'd lost money, and said some girl had found cash on the floor and given it to the bartender ... !?!?!?!? Sure enough, it was at the bar. So let us all tip our hats to both the totally rad, honest, good-karma-will-seek-her-out gal who found cash and turned it in and the rockingly honest guy who informed me of her deed. Sometimes, people are just so cool. Anywhoo, I had a good time (especially after getting my cash back - though after I bought that girl a drink, and that guy, I didn't have much left ... eh, who cares?) and danced a lot. However, as much as I love going out and seeing everyone, I have to say nothing really beats a night in with my two men ;)
Speaking of, my littlest man is doing quite well. He started cereal a couple weeks ago and let me tell you - it's like clumpy gold to this kid. He took to it instantly. It's so cute - he sees the cereal and opens his mouth so big I swear his jaw is going to snap. When you deposit the goods, he starts laughing; while this *is* cute, I always worry he's going to start choking. I keep warning Henry that my Infant CPR class isn't until next month so he has to wait until then to choke. I don't think he gets it.
Oh, but his eczema is getting better. I took advice from my mom and started to give his skin air during the day (and of course, like all babies, Henry LOVES naked-time). I also took the advice of
sabonai and stopped using soap, gave Henry more frequent but shorter baths and ceased all dryer-sheet use. I do believe that all of this has *totally* made a HUGE improvement. So, thank you mom (though she doesn't read this) and thank you
sabonai.
But I gotta say, the highlight of this week was definitely this past Sunday. On our way back from visiting my mummy in Appleton,
angelstoil, Henry and I stopped at the Veteran's home in King to see my grandpa (my grandma, who also resides there but in a different building, was ill and not up for visitors - poor grandma) Right before we left, we had Henry laying on my grandpa's bed. He was all giggly and gurgly (Henry, that is ... not grandpa - heh). My grandpa kept making faces and noises at him and Henry was absolutely delighted. Something about seeing my grandpa, who is the world's sweetest, dearest man, entertaining yet another generation ... man, talk about a moment. My grandpa is battling Alzheimer's, yet always remembers any Henry tidbits. He just lights up whenever I talk about him; and when he gets to see his great-grandson, something kind of ... clicks or something. It's amazing.
When we were in Appleton, we stopped at my grandparents old house (which will be sold soon) so I could grab anything I wanted. I found all my old report cards (I was a smart little shit!), old artwork, my birth certificate ... so much. My coolest find was my grandpa's old Air Force jackets; these are definitely going to Henry. It was cool going through all the stuff, yet heartbreaking. I mean, this is pretty much my childhood home - my family moved around a lot, but grandma and grandpa always stayed put. It was hard. So many memories there ...
Moving on, I have to be cliche here and comment on the weather. Holy s-h-i-toot was it nice today! Henry and I went for a loooooooong walk which was awesome since he could actually enjoy the warmth of the breeze (usually, when we go for walks, he's pretty bundled). I actually got kinda warm, though, which was heavenly and annoying at the same time. I've decided, however, that if I'm going to walk Henry in the summer, I will definitely need a better pair of sandles. My 3-inch wedges aren't quite so comfortable after the first 45 minutes. My piggies are sore, ladies and gentlemen ... very sore.
Well, I 'spose that's it for now. Hope ya'll got to enjoy ... well, something today. Yeah, I'm tuckered out; no more writing for me. Cheers!
