To my sister

Okay, its finally time to update. As today is sort of a landmark day, I feel I must say a few words to mark the occassion. First and foremost, since it is already the 19th in Japan, let me be the first to say

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST BIG SISTER EVAR! Let us all give lollipoptrollop a big round of applause!

Sorry, I don't know how to do any cool banner things, but my hearts in the right place - tee hee.

Okay, secondly, I must say that I was having a very hard time with this birthday, as anyone near me may have noticed. I've been kinda mopey and irritable all week (the Mister can attest to this but he WON'T since its my birthday today and he has to say all nice things!). But then a really cool thought hit me -

I'm sharing my birthday with my sister again.

Our birthdays are technically one day apart, although I was actually due on her birthday; however, being the anxious person I am, I came a day early. Anyway, I've always kind of thought this was pretty cool. I mean, being the little sister, I always wanted to be more like Kate (expect those few pre-teen years when she and I fought constantly) and what better way to be like Kate than to steal some of her birthday glory and make it mine, too? I used to brag to all my friends that my sister and I were "almost exactly 2 years apart!" I guess I sort of thought they'd all be jealous that my birthday was so close to hers, because c'mon, who wouldn't want something in common with her? However, there was always that pesky one day difference. But then, two years ago, on her Milestone birthday, she went to Japan and 'lo and behold, we realized we were sharing the same birthday. Although I didn't get to be with her that year, it was kinda neat thinking, "Right now, Kate's in Japan celebrating hers." And now, two years later, it is my big Milestone birthday ... and again, I get to share it with her. Its kind of a comforting thing, you know? I feel like we somehow fooled time and found a way for both of us to share this particular birthday.

Anyway, here's to us, dammit!
