Insomnia and cute cat stuff

So I had a bit of insomnia this morning, It's been a while since I haven't been able to sleep at night and been up at ridiculous hours, but I woke up at 2 this morning and just couldn't get back to sleep. So I got up and went out in the living room and sat working on a jigsaw puzzle for three hours before trying to go back to sleep. So today I am functioning on about 3 1/2 hours of sleep.

Lily (my cat) is just an amazingly smart cat. She likes to be in the same room as me. In the bedroom she has three spots to sleep, on a perch in the window (so she can watch the night critters outside, on the towel on the dresser or on the bed stretched out next to me. Usually when I get up at night to go to the bathroom, she doesn't move from her perches until I come back, then she jumps down from her perch and up onto the bed to stretch out next to me until I fall back to sleep. She then goes back to one of her perches. She doesn't follow me when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom usually. In the mornings, the first thing I do before I get up is reach over and put on my watch, she must know that that means I am getting up and not coming back to bed, because she will immediately get up and follow me around the house in the morning.

So last night, when I got up because I couldn't sleep, I didn't bother to put on my watch, I just went out into the living room, a few minutes later, Lily wanders into the room, I didn't come back fast enough, so something was wrong.

So I'm sitting there working on my jigsaw puzzle at the table in the corner and she was lying on the coffee table in the middle of the room, I looked over at her and she was watching me, she purruped, I said "What, come here." She jumped down off the table and came over and sat next to my chair, I reached down and petted her a bit, she purruped a bit when I stopped. Then she looks over at the other chair at the table, which happened to have some stuff on it, then looks at me, then at the chair again, "What, you want me to move the stuff off your chair?" I did and she jumped up on the chair. Now she wasn't content with the chair, so she very gingerly climbs up on the table with my puzzle on it (she is allowed on this table and the coffee table, but not the kitchen table or counters, and she knows this) and very carefully walks around the edge of the puzzle, trying not to step on it. She settled down on the side of the table where there were no puzzle pieces. I keep working on the puzzle while petting and scritching her. She purrs loudly.

Finally she decided that I just wasn't paying enough attention to her so she gets up, walks over to the middle of the puzzle and plops her behind down right in the middle of all the pieces. "You know Lily, I can't work on the puzzle with you laying in the middle of it now can I?" I carefully pick her, brush the puzzle pieces from her fur, and put her on my lap. She purred and sat there for a while then decided she had had enough. She jumped down and went back over to the coffee table, where she jumped up and went back to sleep.

When I decided to try to go back to sleep myself, I turned off the light and went back in the bedroom, she followed me and jumped up on the bed and stretched out along my side, I reached down and scritched her tummy for a while, when I woke a little later, she was still there with her paws wrapped around my arm and her head on my hand. (her tail in my armpit.)

I have such a sweet spoiled kitty.
