DAWN
Serafina's heart pounded painfully, anxiety and excitment seeming to constrict her chest. She glanced out the tall, open window, and realized dawn was already upon her. The blood red sun was steadily rising above the horizon, and the red, yellow, and orange hues of dawn steadily snaking upwards, forcing night and it's stars from the sky. She bit her bottom lip in apprehension, standing quiet and still in the slowly vanishing darkness.
Suddenly, two figures stepped out of the shadows of the vast hallway, and immediately Serafina stood up to meet them. The lighting casted harsh shadows on their faces, but she easily recognized the two. They spoke in hushed voices.
"Kailasa," Serafina happily breathed, touching her handmaid's face tenderly, and she responded with an imperceptible smile. She looked upwards to the other, her eyes meeting someone's she did not expect.
"Ser Heilyn Penton," She started, her eyebrows knitted together in slight alarm and confusion. "You are to stay here and escort m-"
He cut her off before she could protest. With a clenched fist to his heart, he took a step closer. "Do not worry, we will return with this...man before the celebration." The determination in his eyes fell away quickly to his own anxiety. "But, your grace, I will do ask you please, but... I do not think this is wise, the sight of you together may arise suspicion and he was not approved by His Majesty-"
She cut him off curtly, for she was tired of his advice. She knew the risk, ad she was willing. "Don't question me, just do it. Tell him who you are, and who is sending for him. Kailasa, make sure to dress him appropriately when he arrives, and be as subtle as possible. Oh, and take her with you." She bent to scoop up her furious small white dog into Ser Penton's arms. Nuriko snapped at his bare wrists, and Ser Penton did his best not to flinch or show his discontent.
"Be quick, I do not want anyone to notice your absence" Were Serafina's bidding as they parted. She spun on her heel, her night skirts fluttering from the sudden motion. She sucked in a ragged breath, and exhaled deeply, hoping their meeting arose no suspicion, and the evening will go as she planned.
