Van Helsing

I had no idea this flick was by Stephen Sommers, who gave us stuff like The Mummy, because now I completely understand why it was so funny. However, unlike The Mummy, where the intended humor worked for the movie, it worked against it here. Plot? What plot? If Dracula's "Master Plan" was supposed to be a plot, then I have the wrong definition ( Read more... )

Is YOU? I dunno. How did they say it? In what context? Other than the fact that Van Helsing worked for the Vatican, I dunno how so.

The implication was that I'm a crazy fanatic with Vatican ties. But in a good way. Which is basioally true, right? *g*

If he was killing monsters out of some zealous commitment to ridding the world of Eeeeeevil, then yeah, maybe I'd agree. It came off more as a job with him than anything else. My character examination sort of explains it better than I do. erm ... yeah.

Well, if your analysis is true (I read it even though I shouldn't have), he may be so inured to his task that it is a job. Also, based on the commercials, he doesn't really know who/what he is, so could that be a factor? I dunno. Why am I talking about a movie I haven't seen yet? Oh yeah, cuz I'm bored out of my skull and the Jackie Chan movie I was watching actually jumped out of the TV and turned my brain into oatmeal. (The Medallion, if you were curious)

It could be. I'm under the suspicion that the Vatican itself knew more about his true identity than he did, and that irritated the man. He had a back and forth with a Cardinal near the beginning of the movie about not being able to remember who he was.
