Is the zodiac real or fake? It's pretty fun to think that these shapes in the sky coinciding with the sun on your birthday attribute to a person's behaviour, but can we really think these things are true? In everyday life I often find it to be a reasonably valid explanation for how individuals act. Even for myself, being a gemini, I have a little bit of a two-sided nature: good one day, bad the next. Can it be my own excuse for doing things the way I want?
Carl Sagan used to say that it's ridiculous for us to think that dots of light that traveled billions of miles to reach the Earth could ever have any relevance on how we act in our life. Countless astronomers (including Sagan) however, have linked our coincidence of intelligent life to very important sequences of star formation, chemistry, and their explosive deaths making life possible.
As a wannabe-scientist, I often believe it could be that the zodiac is an important part of the development of the human brain in evolution. Neurologists have often claimed that there is a cluster of neurons in the cerebrum that can be considered the "God Complex", which is highly active during thoughts or visions of godlike circumstances. It could be that this "God Complex" is responsible for the zodiac, our many Gods throughout the history of mankind, and possibly linked the origin of human imagination and creativity altogether.
I suppose death may have all the answers, but I'll keep searching until it gets too tiresome and then probably just move on to something else.
