There are 168 hours in a week...

And I'm not spending the one's I have this week in the absolute best example of efficiency, but, it is important to mark these crucial items:

8 major banking institutions began paying back TARP money, which, for all the pontificating that I'm certain is about to unfold as a result, is an excellent sign of the return to health of the American economy.  It also answers the question of where Obama was going to get ahold of a few tens of billions of dollars he was planning on using for the public health option.

Also, watching CNN with breakfast this morning, and the NTSB was questioning captain Chesly B. Sullenberger III (whom you all remember as the ex-USAF, United Airways pilot that saved ALL 155 passengers and crew from certain death by landing his airbus in the Hudson river) about whether the availability of emergency manuals in the cockpit was of any benefit, and whether or not they were able to use a checklist in the process ditching his aircraft in the river.  Excuse me madam chairperson, here's your fucking checklist:

[ ] Engines not working?

[ ] Landing gears not operational?

[ ] Plane going into a nosedive?

[ ] Too far from LGA or JFK?

[ ] I - 95 too crowded?

Remainder of checklist to be completed once aircraft has been successfully touched down:

[ ]  Passengers/crew safe?

[ ]  Slides/flotation devices deployed?

[ ]  Emergency services notified?

[ ]  aircraft salvageable?

Now, really, in all honesty, I have an uncle who's a pilot, and he's told me more than his fair share of horror story landings, shit does literally go wrong up there all the time.  Luckily, most pilots are trained well enough to deal with it, and you just don't hear about all the problems that happen.  However, an Airbus splashing down in the Hudson is, granted, on the outside edge of the acceptable, though, I don't think we all need to start throwing down flower petals wherever Sullenberger steps.

Lastly, I'm entirely enthralled by the ipso loquitorious effect of this very tongue in cheek opinion piece related to the entire gun control debate.  Very funny!
