The man

The Man opened the door to his car and collapsed onto the cold hard vinyl seat. He had been in the hospital for a long time. The last few hours were cloudy and haunting. The image of his Father underneath a wriggling mass of tube and wires which were interwoven with his circulatory and cardiovascular system was stuck behind his closed eye lids like an old Polaroid stuck on the fridge. Always there in front when you closed them. There was no rush of nurses and doctors coming to his Father's aide. Just one nurse came in when her station buzzed and the Man's Father had died, no pulse or brain function. The Man sat with his back to the wall as she tended to his Father and he wept. He felt so lost, with no answers to the questions that he didn't actually have. Life was this way and we can never know so what would you ask anyways?

He started the car and headed home
