Interesting news on the pet-food recall

I didn't realize it was Iams forcing the Menu Foods recall, and NOT the government.

From the link:

"Iams stepped up and forced Menu’s recall.

In sworn testimony, Menu Foods CEO Paul Henderson admitted that his company called the recall because Iams told them they’d had enough, that their own quality internal systems had revealed a problem, and that they were pulling their own products even if Menu wouldn’t pull them all."

I have a lot more respect for Iams now (even if they belong to Proctor and Gamble). And Proctor and Gamble will apparently be keeping a closer eye on quality control.

Hooray - I'm sure it's profit-driven, and done in an effort to avoid lawsuits, and (insert other anti-capitalist blurb here), but if the bottom line is pets not getting tainted food, isn't that the important thing? (Personally, I think this is one of the positive side effects of capitalism.)

As for me, even though I have more respect for these companies, I'll continue to feed the cats Pet Promise. They love it, and seem to be doing really well with it.
