Dear Universe:

Oct 23, 2006 12:10

Please stop cluttering my path with cold and flu bugs.

Between missing work last week, and taking a couple of (pre-approved) days off next week, I really need to be focussed and productive for work this week.

I'm sure there must be a lesson in here somewhere; I'm just can't quite figure out what it is.

Yr faithful servant,
donkey_hokey

I believe the lesson is that people are germy and need to learn how to wash their hands especially when they are ill so that the rest of us don't get their nasties! I think most of the crap you've picked up probably came from some idiot who wiped their nose on their hand and then touched a doorknob or counter. Or some jerk who coughed on the phone (I even sanitize my own phone!).
Having said that I'm sorry you're ailing! Is someone feeding you chicken soup?
Hope you feel better soon!!!!!

Heh.. I'm the only one feeding me chicken soup (because I'm the only one here who can cook) :) that's why I keep cans of soup for when I'm sick.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure I got it when I was out and about this weekend.

I've been eating a lot of whole wheat spaghetti (because I like it, not for any herbal reasons), with many cloves of almost raw garlic. It hurts, but it's worth it.
I've had two colds in a month. One laid me out for days, the last one just ruined a weekend. It's been very odd.
I hope you get to feeling better.

I've just started a batch of garlic pickling. According to the herbal teacher who taught me the recipe, it's about as good as raw but without the harsh edge. If the recipe works out well, I will post it. I won't know for another couple of weeks, though.

And this is different for me, too. It's been a long time since I've been sick twice in rapid succession. I can't remember when it was.

I find that being ornery serves to scare off all but the most persistent bugs, then just being plain mean kills those. :) Hope that helps!

I don't get sick all that often - I've never had to learn how to be ornery with the bugs. :) Eh, it will pass.

I hope that it passes quickly. It's not as if you didn't have anything else on your plate.

Occasionally about every 5 yearsw the body updates new antibodies thus one who is never really sick ends up with all sorts of colds and flues....then for the next several years viola, nothing!.....and we forget that the body at time is just updating and there really is not a major illnes just your immunology at work......( oh joy!) hope you've finished updating and feel better soon!

I didn't know that about the 5 year cycle. Thinking about it though, I *did* go through a very nasty winter about 5 years ago. And every year I get something nasty once or twice, but never all that bad. This year it's starting off early and intense. I hope the updating will be over soon, too.

If I can figure out the extension/direct line/e-mail or web address to the Celestial Dept. of Human Services, I'll make sure to pass it on.

*hugs*
